UNI filter doesn't fit, WTF?!

Why Z?

Or am I just being dumb?

I ordered a UNI filter from Dennis Kirk (they are close to me so everything comes overnight) ... Only AFTER I greased it seemed it doesn't fit my 07 FSR 450.

I ordered it along with a "Pro Seal" filter gAsket because it seemed the bike didkt seal as good as my previous Yami/Kawis.

Both parts were found using the "find parts for your ride" function where I entered 07 FSR 450. When both parts arrived the packaging cross referenced most of the same models (mid 90s-2000's CR's, KX's, a Husky)

UNI Filter fit seems a lil different.
1. First, there are only 2 holes not 3, only 1 of them lines up with 1 of the posts on te cage.
- is this normal and is it supposed to be fitted to the bike different ?
- or am I supposed to know that I have to jimmy rig something?
2. Anyone else experience this?
3. So what do do with it now?

Note I did post this in the 4 stroke forum in a bit more detail but it seems to move VERY slow.... :-(
And I wanna ride :-(

Any thoughts ?

I really dont know about the 4t but when I got my 02 200 last year it had a UNI filter and it fit like crap so I threw it in the trash. NoToil filter fit very good.

Twinairs for me. The way the filter overlaps the frame and then pushes into the airboot gives one of the best seals out imo. As long as all 3 prongs on the frame locate into the boot its near impossible to have an issue.

I can't speak about the UNI filter for the 450 or the older model GGs but I dry tested the 2014 prototype UNI filter on a '14 300, '11 300, and my '07 250 and it fit very well. Feedback was given to UNI for minor improvements but I believe the prototype filter I fitted was already better than the Twin Air and NoToil.

Thanks guys!!!

Ahhh what a relief in getting some responses! Air filter is one thing I worry about so much.

So, poke some holes in it where they "should" go and I should be OK?

Or can I just work the sides of the filter scrunch around the cage thingy?

As of now I have kind of scrunched the material around the cage thingy and seems to sit on there pretty good. IMO it "seems" like it sits on there better than the Stock TwinAIr that came on it (which I later found a lil tear where the rim of filter glued to body of filter) that seemed so skimpy on one side and extra on the other .

But, if getting the air filter right is important to me. It is the one thing I know how to do and can control! So I wanna get it right!

I think I will put a call in to Mark at GoFasters tomorrow just to be safe and get a couple others on order.

Also, anyone know... Does the TwinAir run a diff cage? On the a gofasters sight I noticed they sold 3 diff things : TwinAir filter w Twin Air cage for 150, Twin Air filter only, and a GG stock cage. Wonder if the cages is why my Twin Air and UnI fit goofy?
