Upper Shock Mount Bolt?

OK. I'm guilt of never servicing the upper mount. I'm in the process of pulling the shock and cannot loosen the upper mount bolt. I can't get a socket on it because of the shock reservoir and trying to loosen it from the bolt head isn't working.

I think I'm going to cut the nut with a Dremel cut-off wheel. Does anyone have any other suggestions?

im sure you tried to get a small bottle torch in there to heat it up? soak in penetrating oil? never had a single problem getting the top mount off, maybe try to tap the bolt with a hammer/drift and then try a 1/2 drive ratchet on the bolt ,with the wrench holding the nut?

Did you try a thin wall socket? Its tight but works on my Sachs, and I used it it on my two Ohlins bikes including torquing the bolt on install.

A six point socket on a pneumatic impact should work as well on the other side.

If everything is seized up and needs replacing anyway, I'd just drill the head off and drive the shank through.

I ended up drilling the shank out of the nut. Thanks for the input guys. Kind of tought spot because the bolt can only go in one way and I can only get an open end wrench on the nut. I'm going to have to torque it from the bolt end which isn't ideal.
