Excuse my lack of knowledge around part names but basically im after breaking the alloy plate that holds the stator on my 07 ec 300.. I broke one of the little tabs that the reciver thing screws into, the left hand screw.. now my problem is I can't get the air gap between the reciver and flywheel 100% correct. . Second problem you can't buy the plate with out the stator of I can't source a second hand one..So any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.. is it a crossover part with ktm?? Has anyone got one I could buy?? Here's a pic were if you look closely you can see where I tried to stick it with plastic weld..Please help me!!!

It's not a high stress location. Is it a clean break on the tab? If you remove the stator plate from the bike and clean everything perfectly, does the broken tab sit in place OK? If it does you should be able to JB Weld it. No way would you get it good enough with the parts still in the bike.

After a repair (with the tab in the proper location) see what gap exists between the band ears and the tabs. You could shim under the band ears so the band only snugs down enough to hold the pickup unit. Too much tension and your repair will fail.

The stator backing plate should be the same for all 2K3 applications. I'm sure you could find one from a part-out if you are patient.

The KTM stator plate is slightly different.
You won't get the timing advanced far enough.
You can make it work by grinding out the adjusting slots.

Is it just the exc plate I can use?? Is there any other bikes I could swap one over off

Im getting the plate welded. .All depends now on how close it is to the original position. .What is the correct distance between the flywheel and the black magnito box??

I might be able to help out as I sold my old stator including plate but the person who bought it has his old stator and plate aswell.
Same person is after another part I have so I could trade with him

See what I can do to help
Cheers

Thanks ken life saver! :D

Mine measures at .027" (0.68mm) between the flywheel bump and the pickup face. I would aim for .025" (anything from .020" to .030" should work).
Thanks Neil them measurements will help a lot ..just out of curiosity what would happen if it was too close and the spark was too strong? ? What problems would that cause??

It only provides a trigger signal for the CDI discharge. It would probably work fine with a close gap. I doubt you could tell any difference. A large gap would likely create issues.
