Vancouver Motorcycle Show

Honesty, its not a big deal to me and probably not most of us. The few times I worried about a filter change in a dusty race, I started with a filter sock and just removed it at the gas stop. If it adds a few minutes shop time during normal maintenance, I'm sure that will be made up elsewhere considering how the fit, finish, and fasteners are cleaned up.

Clay is right about the bbox being a structural part of the subframe, it must be bolted on. I was wondering about how much the bbox restricts air to the filter. It sure seems kinda plugged up from my observation. I think a bracket could be fabricated to eliminate the bbox and still give you access without taking off the bracket to service the air filter. The big hassle I can see is if you water out the bike on the trail and then it is a hassle to wring out the air filter. Really a poor design IMO.

A little clarification, when you guys say "structural part of the subframe", do you mean the box being bolted in across the members adds strength? I don't think that is what you mean, rather that its just required for the seat anchor.

Scorpion Skid Plates and Radiator Protection

We at Scorpion Racing would just like to let everyone know that we have the 2012 GasGas from the Vancouver Bike show here in our factory (Jan 23 2012) for development of the new Skid Plate and Radiator protection products. Hope to have avalability next week. I will post photos when ready.

The bbox gives the subframe strength laterally. I am sure that there is a way that one could design a billet/steel bracket in the place of the box, it would just depend on how much one would want to pay for it.

It must sit in the subframe with a slight interference fit to the box itself then. I can't see 4 M6 bolts on those small plastic ears doing anything.

I don't see it as a structural piece, either. It doesn't do much to make the subframe more resistant to bending. Too far from where the load would be applied. If it were on the other end of the airbox, that would add rigidity.

WOW! Looks goood. I'm new to the GG world so forgive me for a silly question, but what happened to the cartridge filter set-up? That looked really cool.

It bet that the guys at EE will make up some kind of alluminum bracket/frame that can hold the seat base as well as adding structural integrity to the subframe.

We at Scorpion Racing will be looking at making a bracket that will fill this need. We have the bike now and have already started working on the Scorpion HD Skid Plate.
