Wanted: Smaller rear sprocket

I have the Desert 100 coming up in early april so I'm looking for a smaller rear sprocket. Right now I'm running 13/48 or 50 depending on the ride. I'd like to find a smaller rear sprocket (somewhere in the 44-46 tooth range). I don't mind if it's fairly worn since I need it for 100 miles of riding, that's it. Can offer a 48 or 50 tooth sprocket (some wear, still useable) as a trade. The 48 is the stock GasGas sprocket, the 50 is a Moose aluminum sprocket.

Why dont you contact gnarlyparts he's one of your sponsers after all. For the trouble and expense of trading you can get a new one. b.t.w. I think that going anything less than 47 would be a mistake.

I have contacted Dave, but I'm just seeing if anyone has an old one sitting around that they aren't using instead of forking out cash for a new one (my racing budget is really, really tight this year). The Desert 100 is all high speed stuff so I'd like to gear it significantly higher. There's very few technical sections and I know I can ride it fine with higher gearing. I ran 13/48 at the six days which was fine even in the technical sections on day 5, so I figure if I drop it to 46 I'll be fine. I'd like to just go to a 14 tooth front sprocket but I hear there's fitment issues with that.

You realize with a 46 your going to have to take a link or two out of your chain, then what, 2 masters?. If you do decide on going 46 you had better jet fat.

You realize steve that with a 46 your going to have to take a link or two out of your chain, then what, 2 masters when you go back?. If you do decide on going 46 you had better jet fat, theres going to be lots of load on the engine with that kind of spread.

Yep. I just want to be able to cruise at high speed instead of riding at 3/4-WFO for 3+ hours. I ran 13/50 last year and it was way too low. My friend on a KTM250XCW has 14/48 which was good.

Unless your out of adjustment you wont need to take a link out. My buddy runs 13/46 all the time and the chain is original uncut. I will be going to 46 when everything needs replacing.

I put a 46 tooth on my FSR, and had plenty of adjustment.
In his o.p. he stated he's running a either a 48 or 50 on the same chain.I could be wrong but if the chain now fits a 50 I dont think it will fit a 46 without loosing a link.
