Weird jetting question

Hi guys I have a 2004 ec250 with an rb head rb carb and ported cylinder. The bike is jetted almost perfect nice and clean not rich not lean no spooge at the silencer the bike has a weird flat spot in the end of the bottom mid range it's always when I'm on the track needing to be on the pipe in 2nd shifting to third to make a uphill jump that delay is making me case it and woods riding the bike will not pull 2nd gear at slow speed unless you pin it and clutch it a bunch. Any suggestions would be great I moved the needle down one notch and it made the bike run even cleaner no difference or correction of the problem. I remember my other gg bikes pulling 2nd gear no problem

That does sound weird, so I will offer a weird reply :)

Jetting is not lean but won't pull 2nd gear? A good strong low-mid range is what GG engines are known for - especially with the RB mods. So something is definitely off. Is it pulling strongly in other gears? Did it act this way before it was ported?

If it was a lean bog you would have to richen/raise your needle, not drop it.

I would suggest checking your reeds. I once chased what I thought was an electrical problem (bike would start every 20th kick) that ended up being chipped and broken reeds.

While it seems like bad reeds would affect the upper rpm range as well, sometimes weird things go on...

So when I began i lowered the clip and raised the needle I was in the middle when I started moving it down helped some but not enough I'm going to investigate reeds. Currently at bottom position on the needle, cek needle and 8h slide

What size main & pilot jets are you running?

If you're on the bottom position of the needle, you may just need to increase the size of your jets!
