What do you use to record?

I've been thinking about getting a "action cam" and just want to know what every one uses. it would be great if you could leave some video from it and some opinions!

Thanks
Liam

Ditto. I have an older Contour HD. I love it. I'm probably going to spring on a new one sometime soon.

Same here. It's either on or off, no menu to scroll or anything else. Slide it on, listen for the beep, slide it off, listen for the beep. I'll probably pick up another as well, for $99 the Roam2 is a heck of a deal.

Water resistant without being in a big clear housing too.

I have an older GoPro Hero (720p HD). The GoPros aren't as compact as the Contours, but when the open back is used, I think they record better sound.

This is probably true. I had really bad wind noise until I put a small piece of tape over the mic hole. Now it sounds great.

I use an older Hero2 and it has been rock solid. I am still on the original case even though I have had it strapped to just about everything from my Dog to RC Cars and thousands of miles on my helmet. If you use the vented back on the case the sound is pretty good. All of the following videos were filmed on my GoPro. Keep in mind that the speed of your memory card is the most important thing. Also YouTube kills the quality of your videos if you're not careful when editing. You have to use a format that YouTube agrees with or it will get a little grainy on you when you upload.

Contour here too. Love the ease of use. Have knocked it hard off my helmet against trees several times, no damage.

Biggest complaint on it is the quiet recording sound but all the pros outweigh that.

I vaguely remember that you can use the utility on your computer to turn up the mic sensitivity.

many good camera options out there, my biggest issue is not having the time to go through the footage and edit it, so have giggggs of unedited footage that is waiting for my retirement (about 20 years away!)

looks vary appealing, do you know how long it goes for?
No idea, but I just bought mine. Probably will last until they burn through the old stock of either camera. Even just $99 for a Roam2 is a good deal.

I am right there with you. With the Contour, I simply cycle the power switch at the trail head, so I can get a section on film and not have to wade through miles of boring transfer sections to get to a particular moment. I just need to remember which trail the incident occurred, and find and post that video. Much simpler than the GoPro "leave it on and edit it later."

The gopro can be paused just the same as the contours. Just a simple button push and it stops. When you are ready to record again push the same button

Only problem is that you sometimes forget if it is on or off
Some cameras also have a remote on off switch which is a useful feature to have
