As the title says guys I'm wondering what this over flow is for on my 2012 EC250 ? I have some oil coming out every couple of seconds. Should I be worried about this? Racing tomorrow.

Many thanks

It should be the exhaust valve chamber drain/vent. Follow it back up and that's where it should go. A little seepage in normal.

You might see more of it depending on the flash point of your oil and doing slow technical riding where the exhaust doesn't get very hot.

My bike drips oil out this hose onto the garage floor (small pool about the size of a quarter) every day after riding it. It's leftover/unburned 2-stroke oil from the PV chamber. If you're getting a lot of spooge dripping down the pipe onto the swingarm, as I once was, then try a lower flashpoint oil as nknudsen suggested. I have found that Motul 710 works very well if you're a trail rider/racer, which has a flashpoint of 88 degrees C. There are lots of low flashpoint options, though. Amsoil Dominator has a flashpoint of 102 degrees C.

For comparison, the popular Motul 800 has a flashpoint of 252 degrees C.

Mine is pinched off with a zip tie from the factory.

Seem to remember reading that if it is pinched off you should open it every now and again to drain it, but could just be making that up!

There should be a performance difference with it closed off but not sure if it would be enough to notice?

If you use the bike in extreme water crossings leave the zip tie on it and drain it every so often. For those who never encounter the deep water crossings, just leave the drain tube open.

The EU requires it be zipped tied close- they don't want oil dripping on the trails.

The spigot that the hose slides onto is a calibrated "leak". There's a small port like a main jet in the spigot.
