What size tires can I run on my 2001 Gas Gas EC300? Am currenty running a 100/100-18 on the rear and a 80/100-21 on the front. I recently acquired a few slightly used tires but with good tread in different sizes and am wondering if I can use these. They are Rear sizes 120/90-18 and 120/100-18. Any informationis much appreciated.

i would think either one of those rears would fit fine.. what you have to watch, esp on michelins, is the sizing is not standard on some tires

i have seen a gg with a 130/90 18 on the rear and it fit fine..

welcome, btw..

Thanks for the Info...I have one that is a Michelin Cross Competition size 120/90-18 and the other four are 120/100-18 and are Pirelli Scorpions. Will these handle ok with a 80/100-21 on the front? And will the Michelin work you think on the rear? Thanks for all the help.

The first number is the width of the tire and the second is a percentage you use to determine tire height. For example your 120/90-18 is 120mm wide and height is 90% of the width or 108mm(90%of 120). Your gasser can run really wide tires without rubbing but taller tires (especially trials tires) can rub the mud flap (behind shock) if you run a 50 tooth or larger rear sprocket with standard length chain. Trials tires are not only large in diameter they are also soft so they grow a good bit in diameter as the tire spins faster.

I ran a 140/80 - 18 on my 2001. Depending on chain length and how far back the rear spindle is in the adjusters, taller tyres may rub on the shock protector flap like gasser says.

I ran a 140/80 - 18 on my 2001. .

After running the 120/90 Michelin S12 for years, I also went to the super fat 140/80-18 Michelin S12xc. I love it - for me it balanced out the bike nicely for faster corners. I really just got it for Southwick's deep sand, but I so far like it better everywhere.

i run the thinnest tires i can find - but here it's roots/ruts/rocks/single track....since i run low pressure, i don't need a big profile tire..

Thanks for all the info guys I do appreciate it. I love my 01 GG 300, best bike I have ever owned! And it is good to see that so many folks support them.
