Wheel interchange question?!

I know this question has been done to death, I apologize!!! (I even used to the yank spelling 'z' to show my sympathies!!)

Anyway! What wheels fit the EC300 series (2006)? Doesn't matter what size or anything, just considering a spare set of hoops for supermoto (perhaps 18" front and rear). Thanks guys!

GasGas Wheels are pretty much all interchangeable, now what you are asking for would be other brands. Unfortunately very few fit without modification and/or spacers.

GasGas rims are different than KTM and the jap bikes. The spoke pattern is different so some of the spoke holes in the rim are drilled at a reverse angle to jap or ktm wheels.

So the best bet is find a cheap set of wheels from another bike and make them fit? ;)

Yea, pretty much.

The front is easy as you can just use spacers to get it lined up properly, and change the bearings to fit the stock axle.

The rear is more challenging, as you need to have the correct spacing between the sprocket and brake disc. It can be smaller and you can pack it out, but thats pretty tedious. Then the obligatory spacer/bearing/axle matching.

In saying that, there are rumours which pop up every so often of being able to use early CR or KX wheel sets. So perhaps they are closer than other brands to fitting, I know the KTM rear wheel definitely won't fit without some modification.

So the question now is, what wheels do the KX guys use to make supermotos... if they do :D

I'm thinking about TZR125, RS125, NSR125 sort of wheels perhaps?

What did you have to do to get that wheel to work?
I used the KX spacers, but had to use a washer to take up the extra space on one side(sprocket side, I believe). I do not recall the thickness. That bike is long gone now. As I recall, the wheel slid right in. Short of a slight difference on the drive side spacer.
