Which stator comes in the 2001 EC 300?

It might be a dumb question, however I'm not entirely sure that the 2k2 and 2k3 kokousan stators are named after the years they were released/designed. Is it possible or likely that 2k3 stators were used in 2001 GG bikes? Currently trying to follow the top stickied thread in this forum and unsure why mine does not have the white wire needed for the modification. The stator exits the bike at the 10 o'clock position and has 6 wires - none of which are white.

You have the 2k2 on your bike right now with gas gas there's no telling what they had put on it originally, or what a previous owner has done some people prefer one over the other

I'm guessing cbutler knows your bike. For those that are curious about their own bikes the 2K2 ignition wiring exits at about the 10 o'clock position. The 2K3 wiring exits the cover at about the 2 o'clock position.

This one should have the power to keep a battery charged right? It's only going to run a 35w headlight, horn and taillight. Just have to find which wire is high wattage or would the yellow wire manage?

no high/low wire for the 2K2 (at least not if i remember correctly). The horn may sound a little weak (like on the trials bikes) but should still work with the lights. I run high beam, tail and brake light. You just can't go high watt headlamp.

I've never paid much attention to the posts about adding a battery, not sure how that would work with the a/c output vs d/c output. You might want to read up on the floating ground posts to convert to d/c output.

Currently unable to get the horn to fire. Not surprised really, ask a lot of people and they seem to think it's impossible on AC but gasgas has done it somehow.

Well, it makes noise.. but that's not really saying much. I think I'll run the battery for the horn only for the DOT inspection. Never had much luck whenever I touch a stator. Went aftermarket on a different bike once and didn't work at all. I'll likely grab a 2k3 stator at some point.
