will 2019 map switch fit 2018

My dealer says the 2019 map switch, which is an ignition curve switch, will fit the 2018 models aswell.

But I didnt find a connector on my friends GP300/18. So I wonder if there is a connector on the EC300/18 and if not how can I fit the switch?

The 2018 and 2019 wiring diagrams are identical.

The map switch connects to pin #4 on the CDI unit and the switch simply connects the pin to ground for the "wet" curve. If the switch is not connected, the CDI is set to "sun" curve.

I usually run my bikes on the "wet" curve by removing the switch and connecting a wire across the connector under the tank to short pin #4. Personal preference.

On the 2019, the connector is is a simple 2 pin type under the tank near the HT coil. you should be able to trace it from the CDI connector.

CDI connectors can be found on eBay.
You can use the wire terminals from one of those.

I'm not sure if the '18 CDI module supports the map modes.

Many thanks, so you're saying there should be a connector under the tank on the 2018? Well, if not we can ground the #4 pin on the CDI to activate the softer curve.

On the 2019 it was as you said, I just had to plug in the switch which came with the bike.

What are the part numbers for the 2018 and 2019 CDIs ??

EC300 2018: CDI PN: EE51100CT-CRB-1
XC300 2018: CDI PN: EE51100CT-CRB-1
GP300 2018: CDI PN: EE51100CT-CRB-1

EC300 2019: CDI PN: EE51100CT-CLP-2
XC300 2019: CDI PN: EE51100CT-CLP-2
GP300 2019: CDI PN: EE51100CT-CSK-2

I think the PNs have changed because of reprogramming...

This was good news. Don?t have any map switches on my 125 (have throttle for that), but it?s good to know that ecu on my 2018 GP300 has the possibility to fit the map switch. Actually looking at the 2019 manual one can scheck the correct pins and correct color codes for wires.

The CDI connector terminals (for MAP switch) are blank on the "18s.
Pins 4 and 13 are for the MAP switch.

Finally,
If I buy the selector switch and install it in aEC 300 2018 as you described, will I have the RAIN and SUN maps on my bike, like 2019 models?

No.
According to the GG tech, if the '18 CDI supported the MAP switch, they would have added it.
You can buy a '19 CDI and add the switch.

Well, now we have mixed signals from GG. One technician says it works, one says it doen?t.

The easiest way to check is loop pins 4 and 13 in the connector and see what happens :D

The wiring plan is the same in the connector between 18 and 19, so no harm should come, even if the ECU program doesn?t support this, right

You risk shorting out the module.

In my humble opinion, I do not think such changes are worth taking the risk!

The 2018 models already have many electrical problems but have gradually been solved...

These "adaptations" are a potential problem!

If it was just buy the selector switch and plug it in according to the diagram, ok!

But if the CDI's are different (see my post above with the 2018/2019 PN's), you will not be putting the key or just changing the position of the pins that we would get the SUN and RAIN maps with some safety for the motorcycle's electronic / electric system!
