i have one on mine. It gives a little more leverage, not that mine was that hard to start anyway.. I was destroying my rh boot on the peg, prolly something i was doing wierd kicking it..

The kickstarter was changed along the way - the older ones were really short and didn't have enough "meat" where the arm met the knuckle when it was folded back - so it would sometimes break down and fold backwards.
They are now longer and stronger - so the difference between a newer GG kicker and the YZ kicker is less.
I only have experience going from the really short old one on '01 to the YZ kicker...
Watch the KTM starter does not loosen. The GG shaft is tapered slightly and is what the knuckle is torqued against. The KTM knuckle is a little narrow. I had to use a few 17mm ID shims to make up space when I had one. Good durable starter though.
There was a slight amount I filed on the edge of the kick lever to make sure I had enough clearance to the case by the clutch cover when the kick lever swings in.
