01 ec250 engine interchange

Hi all I have an 01 ec250 and am looking at rebuilding a 250 or 300 motor that I was hoping to just drop directly into my existing frame.
I did some research and apparently 99-04 bottom ends are direct swaps into frame and top ends 99-present. Is this correct in anyone’s experience, and does that apply to 250 and 300? Or can you please point me in the right direction thanks.!!

03 they changed the swing arm pivot bolt that ges threw the back of the motor to a larger one.

I heard they did this . I put a 2004 ec200 into my 2001 xc200 chassis . Maybe the 200 did not get change ?

My 02 200 is smaller than both my 03 250 one ec one Mc. Ordered bearings one time and they didn't fit the 200 that is how I found out, then confirmed by Jim Cook
