07 vs 06 ec300 MSO

The 07 bikes have offroad motorcycle on the MSO. My understanding is the 06 did not. Is this true? If so does anybody have a line on a new 06 ec300?

Kansas no longer allows registration of off road conversions.

Thanks, Bill.

I've had "For Off Road Use Only" printed on my '00 GG EC250 MSO, but it was on the bottom edge of the paper outside the border. I wasn't aware of the '06/'07 difference, but in NJ it doesn't matter anyway. They have a better database and know what everything is now. No eaiser registering a KTM 250 XCW than a GG EC250. Only the Husky TEs and KTM EXCS go through easy.

For a leftover deal thats hard to beat, check out the '05s at Marshall's Motorsports in the classified section. No major differences for '06, and the main frame is still the same for '07. They even have the dual map CDI.

It's not in the classifieds. The number I can find on the web is disconnected.

Do you know their number?

Bill.

They moved their shop so if you do a search you might find their old number - e.g. the one listed on gasgas.com is out of date. The number listed in the for sale section of the bulletin board is up to date.

This is off topic but where are you at in KS?

If you live in Kansas you might want to call Paul at Sante fe trail cycle a call. 7858369171 he has studied the laws and has some insight.

I wouldnt count on street registering any 06 or older Gas Gas soon. The non-conforming VIN is starting to give a lot of people grief, including me.

We cannot street plate a new GasGas bike in Ontario, Canada any more. At least the MTO (DOT) was decent enough to grandfather in the previously registered bikes, but they will not accept any new street registrations. The non-conforming VIN is what caused this problem. The MTO computer system will not recognize the GG vin. We can street plate anything else here, but no Gassers.

Apparently the US spec bikes have a conforming VIN, which in my opinion may be easier to sneak through than the old VINs. I would rather take my chance with a conforming VIN bike.

According to Kansas law if you put a tail light, turn signals, mirrors, headlight, and horn on your bike it is unlawful not to register it. If you go to tag it in Kansas they may give you problems. The MSO on my 05 and 03 didn't even say it was a motorcycle. I could have registered it as a personal watercraft.

The guy I sold my '03 to had no problem registering it and transfering the title here in NJ. '03 had non-conforming VIN. I'm told by the local dealer that no way any new race bike gets through.

Scott, is this going to change if the next shipments have correct vins? What about renewing already registered stickers? or transferring ownership ??
I was thinking there was going to be a problem so I renewed a couple months ago for 2 yrs.

Mike, this is the real reason why I havent been stocking/selling many Gassers this year. Not because I dont like them or cant sell them.

Your bike is safe. As long as it is currently registered the MTO is renewing and transferring street registrations. Just no new registrations. I just sold a used 06 EC250 and the guy street plated it, but another guy I know could not get a street plate for his 07 300. They would give him an off-road plate only.

I dont know if this will change with the new VINs. We wont know until someone tries to plate one, I guess.
