09 Bikes

Guys I got my new race bikes in last week. A 300 racing and a 125ec. Both 09's. A few observations on the new steeds. The 300 racing does have the larger ignition! I am so happy it has the big ignition! I tried the smaller one and could not make it lug even with a 12 oz flywheel weight. Big ignition = awesome. Another unexpected thing is the carb is now a flat side carb. Just like the one on YZ 250s minus the TPS wiring. I think this should only be a possitive as the throttle pull is less then my 125 and it should aide the low end response even more, from past experiences I have had with this carb. The front axle (300) is now a solid one as well. The 125 is pretty standard. It comes with the 45 zokes and that is fine with me. 125s seem to work well with about any suspension imo. The engine is completely different from my last GG 125 (02) so I am hoping for a little more power. All in all the bikes are looking great and I am doing the basic mods, bars, pegs, rad. mods, ect. On the 300 I will be removing the largest shim from the compression stack and leave the rear suspension as is. It is very firm stock and should work well for the qualifier test pace. I will report back once I get some time on them. I will put the Trell. studded tires on and once the temps get barable I will start to get some time on them. The fit and finish on these bikes seems to me like it has gone up even more from years past.

Congratulations with your 09´s! I got my 300 two weeks ago and I´m very happy with it. Went from ´06 200 and the 300 motor is just fantastic! (large ignition) Be careful with the studded tires though! My frontpipe has some not very nice holes now because of the front wheel....! My local gasgas guy will send me a new pipe (´08 or ´07 mod) tomorrow, and I hope they will change this for the ´10 models. Alot of riders want to use studded tires I guess.

That choke lever on the handlebar is dumb...

My ISDE bike didn't have it, but the 09's I saw at the Vancouver motorcycle show had it, though the importer (GG Pacific) is getting rid of them before the bikes are sold.

Weird that your 09 has the big ignition. My 09 EC250 that I rode in Greece had the small one, which I prefer.

Sure wish I could swing a 2009 ECR. For now I have a few things going on with my currnet ride.

Funny thing how you like the 2k3 and I just swaped the 2k3 out for a 2k2. Have not ridden it yet but I hear good things.

See my post in the 2 stroke section on bobweights, that part is interchangable if you like the 2k you'll love it with 8 onz less crank weight, its McNutt certified.

Does the '09 racing edition come with Sachs or Ohlins. Are the forks coated with the black stuff still? I wonder if the ignition is the 2K2 on the 250. Did you get the spares kit? Did it come with a headlight and taillight? I can't seem to find this info.

Claude,

When I saw the race race bikes in Minnesota this past summer they had the sachs forks & rear shock. I think you can order the ohlins as an option. The forks are 48's if I remember correctly and I did not notice the black coating. The forks felt really good to me when I test rode the bike's. The race bikes also come with an extra piston and base gaskets. I just wish the wife would let me add another toy to the stable.:D

The sachs fork and shock are awesome, IMHO. I didn't adjust a thing on my six days bike since it felt pretty much perfect right from the factory.

The race bikes come with more than just an extra piston and gaskets. I believe they come with different silencers, solid rear rotor and a few other goodies.

I'm looking for a nice ride report on that 125. I picked up an 02 husky wr 125 to test the tiddler waters. I got only one ride on it before the snow moved in. The 09 husky wr 125 is creating quite a buzz, suppose to be very woods friendly. The 02 I got has pretty sweet suspension and was pretty smooth on the power delivery. Wasn't thinking of GG for a 125 but ....
