Ohlins is no magic bullet. A fork is only as good as the setup. I have ridden Ohlins that were set up awful.
Basically what Brian is saying is they are reducing preload via shortining the spacer, and reducing low speed compression damping by removing the face shim.
After some testing I got the suspension working alot better. I know I was told not to mess with the preload but that seemed to have helped alot. The preload screw was all the way in so I backed it out and turned my compression full soft and rebound full slow.
