1999 EC250 crank spins relative to bearing race

Hello

I have a 99 EC250 bottom end I am using instead of rebuilding a 2002 bottom end that grenaded transmission gears from PO.

The 99 has radial play between the crank and bearing, clutch side.

I ink marked the crank and bearing inner race. With 5 rotations by hand, the ink marks are ~15 degrees apart.

Do I attempt to have the 99 crank welded up/plasma sprayed and machined for proper fit? Or do I put the 02 crank in 99 cases?

Who has dealt with this situation?

Thanks!

Also, 99 model crank has a full round crank weight. 01 model crank has a 2/3rds crank weight. Is the 02 off balance requiring this off center deaign? I assume I need to keep each weight with each crank.

Hopefully the image links, if not I will look for url/image thread. 1st image upload on flickr since photobucket ransom event.

Thanks

I would agree you should probably keep the cranks and weights together as from the GG factory.

Does the '99 engine still have the counter balancer installed?
I am guessing the different weights on the cranks is because of this.
The '02 motor does not have the balancer.
I would check into this swap further before continuing.
You might try and private message Jim Cook, he used to own Smackover
motorsports and is a guru on GG bikes.

99 motor was bottom end only with few clutch side parts.

Both cases look identical (02 and 99). How can one identify counterbalanced vs not motor?

Evenweight = counterbalanced and uneven weight= not counterbalanced?

If I get it wrong, it vibrates like holy heck?

Here is a picture of my 98 motor with the balancer shaft.
above and to the right of the stator. It is possible that the enduro
bikes stopped using the balancer in 99. I thought it was 2000.
I think the quad bike motors used the balancer for several more years.

Thanks slocalspode! Do you have partial or full weight installed behind crank nut and gear on clutch side of crank?

That is the magnetic flywheel that corresponds to the Ducati stator coil in the metal ignition cover. It serves dual purpose as a flywheel weight.

My 2000 does not have a counter balancer.
