hey guys im looking at buying a 2002 txt pro 250.. would this be a good starter bike to introduce my self to trials riding? also i hear theses are the first year the pro model was made so is there any known problems with the fist lot of pros that anyone knows of?
cheers luke

i had a2002 txt 200 pro for a while.. it was a fun ride.
the clutch was working wierd when i got it, the inner clutch plate friction had come loose from the plate and the clutch would not release.
the fan also quit.. it had a t stat in the upper hose that popped out.. had to get a new one of those..
other than that, it was great.. wished i still had it..

I just got a 280 Raga replica 08 model.
Great fun and I am a beginner with the trials bike too.
So much more precision needed with the controls.... gotta help the enduro riding I reckon.
Probably gonna give a few trials a go too.
Cheers Mark

I would look for a non pro model. early 02 and earlier, little more forgiving to beginners. I have an 02 TXT280, a good friend has a 02 280 pro. His bike is more aggressive and has different gearing. Plus he has has clutch and kickstarter issues that dont seem to come up as often on the earlier bikes.

If the price is right-snag it!! I bought a Pro for my very first trials bike 06 TXT280 and added a few teeth to the rear to tame it a bit. There is also a white?? throttle tube that will tame it some (I believe the white is slower and the black is faster-kinda like the G2 cams) Trials is the MOST fun you can have at 'walk speed' and it will carry over to your woods bike- believe me. Weather is never a problem as you can break a sweat in your garage with a dead engine....& become a better rider. They are probably the cheapest form of moto-ing around. I've had to do nothing but oil changes & air filter cleans for 2 years.....

Ya grab it if you can. You'll have a great time with it. No use buying something new till you find out if you like it or not.
Chances are you'll never go back once you do...:D

I think this is the first trials post I have seen on this site. Wonder why?

i dont know either.. there is just not that many posts on those..
when i had my pro, i had those problems that were answered pretty quick on here, but that was almost a year ago..

they are way fun and a great way to work on techniques.. but for me, i had no one else who i know that had one, so it only got rode out at my house..
had a guy trade me an 05 250 exc for mine straight across.. then sold it too..
wished i still had it sometimes..

Thanks for the info guys it is up for 800 quid which i reckon isnt a bad price having a look today. :) also if I get it there will be plenty of trials posts incoming as I will need plenty of help lol
Cheers luke
