2004 300ec Timing Check

Hey guys .... what is the best way to check the timing on my bike , the motor was rebuilt just after christmas so i want to double check the timing ...

Its bogging down and all over the place ATM so i want to check the timing 1st before the carb .... its seems to be running rich

Carb setting are

178 main
42 pilot
1.5 turns out
N1EF Needle
7 Slide
Needle notch 2


Also were can i get hold of a CCK Needle , ive phone GASGAS UK and they have not heard of it ????????

timing = check the pulse generator is lined up with the marks.

CCK needle Biketech or probably most of the GG parts dealers will sell them. Or Allens performance.

If I remember correctly, you'll need to remove the flywheel and the alignment marks will be on the ignition backing plate and the sort of oval shaped tab (#5 on the GG parts diagram) that goes under the backing plate bolt closest to the pulse generator. The alignment marks will be there somewhere, rotating the backing plate to advance or retard ignition is the old school way of altering ignition from before cdis with switchable maps.
