2010/2011 Side stand mount and lower chain guide

Hey jake, looking in my parts box I found a g2 100 and 200 cam, were you after them? I'm not going to use a g2 on the next bike.

Cheers Mick,

I ordered a G2 with housing and a quick pull throttle. They have thrown in a 100 cam for free (which is same as stock) so basically just an expensive upgrade to an alloy throttle tube for me if I don't like the 20% shorter pull. I'm guessing I'll love it! Not interested in slowing the pull down with the 200 cam.

I didn't realise you had the G2 setup on your 2011. Which cam did you end up using? My box of spare parts for this bike is ever growing!

Went back to stock, I liked the alloy tube though, doesn't squish and give you arm pump. Cheers

Did you only try the 100 and 200 cams? What didn't you like about them? Whats your thoughts on the quicker pull systems?

I just went out to the shed and had a look and I actually have a 200 and 400 so the 100 is in the bike ( wherever it is), which is the stock size I think, I didn't like 200 as I'm actually looking for throttle response generally, though I can see its benefits in rocky wet conditions, just not for me. Trying to post photo

Mine arrived and I have the 025 and 100. Will try the high response/quick pull and if I don't like it will go back to stock too, or put it up for sale again.

I had a thread on this topic and it disappeared so I will add feedback here. My kickstand bracket broke as well. Since i dont have a welder, I had a machine shop weld on a 1/4" thick tab at a slight angle downward. The tab will not break...of course that means something else more expensive will break instead. The slight angle makes the short stand reach the ground...works great.

I'm now member of the "Brocken Side Stand Mount" society!
I tried to rest the bike on thick mud and the stand went all the way in. By doing so, it changed angle relative to the bike as the latter was falling.
At first I thought that this incident was the root cause but now I know that it is not true. The real reason is metal fatigue. The stand snaps very fast and without any stopping point every time it closes. The mount with the roller has to cope with this force and indeed, it broke in the lower part of the ring. It looks like an over tensioned chain link.

What I try to say is that EVERYONE must modify the upper spring mount. It looks to me that it is just a disaster waiting to happen to all of us. I own a GGec200 2011. Don't know the years that use the same type of side stand.

As far as concern the welding process:
I'm thinking of performing the same procedure.
What type of welding would you recommend and what type of metal do you think would be better for the washer I'm about to weld?

Took my frame to a welders and said "fix here". Not sure what type of material they used.

Had them weld a tab on, drilled a hole when I got it back home.

Thanks husley.
I talked to my mechanic about the issue. He remembered that the last time I went by (2 weeks ago for fork service) he saw the broken mount but forgot to mention it!
This shows I think that root cause is indeed the hard retraction.
...or the week memory of my mechanic :D
