2011 300 blew off radiator hose

Happened during last test of enduro, lost all coolant. Was in a very technical section with climbs and got it hot. Anyone ever had this happen? I reattached hose and put water in and it ran fine. Could there be another issue?

Any pressure build-up should have been relieved by the radiator cap. Bad constant-tension clamp perhaps?

The clamp looked fine, I think I will go back with a regular hose clamp because that thing was a bitch to get back on out on the trail. Just trying to think what other problem/blockage could have caused so much pressure to build up. I was stuck on a rock and had it pinned spinning the back wheel when it happened (was racing and very tired).

Check the thermostat, I had a thermostat housing fail after a long tight section. I have since then removed the thermostat.

Did you order some after market hoses or just a replacement? I might do the same. Not cold here by any means. I don't really see the point in the thermostat other than for cold starts in the morning.

That's an interesting option but I may want to keep the thermostat as we race in the winter in Texas. Mine didn't fail, the hose just blew off. I was lucky I wasn't burned, I had so much gear on it blocked the fluid from getting on me. My friends (all on KTMS-including the guy I race and camp with-he owns a KTM dealership) are giving me a hard time-this was my second DNF out of 2 races on my Gasser. First DNF was due to grenaded chain guard. My season points are screwed now, but I like the bike. Had to order a YZ kicker as the stocker also failed before the race. Now after reading the impeller thread I'm worried about it since I got the bike hot. Geez....

Barr3rd hang in there once you get the bike sorted out you won't want to ride anything else! I had my share of problems! But was able to work them out with my dealer. The last time someone on a KTM busted my stones about the relaibilty of the Gas Gas he blew his bike up in the next section!
As far as the Thermostat I would worry about having one. I live in Pa and ride all year round. Stud up for the snow and Pin it! We havenot had a day above 25 and I have been riding. Just make sure your jetting is good and warm the bike up before dropping the hammer.

Thanks! Matt offered me a free cooler to replace the impellor that didn't fit a while back. I told him not to worry about it.. seems I should have taken him up on the offer! Hah

Could be some Euro3 emissions thing? Much like catalytic converter thing in the pipe???
