2011 300 six days shock

The Ohlins seal is simply an X-ring. Maybe someone at the factory is installing them wrong, like without the bullet tool. About five years back, Les got screwed by a supplier who sent him the wrong X-ring seals for the Ohlins shocks. They were just a hair to tight and would roll an edge over on the shaft and leak after one ride. My shock went back three times and we thought it might be the shaft, then another guy had the same problem. Needless to say Les was pissed. Right part solved the problem.

"Lacking"

Ohlin's quality control must be lacking.

or..... "leeking"?
OK, that was bad.
Really don't want to pick up a new bike to find or wonder if/when the shock will leak.
And if anyone will blow a seal, it'll be me.
What the heck is an "X-ring"? Not being a smart-ass... just never heard that term or description before.

The shaft on mine has a ring of grease on it at part stroke. Looks like it's from assembly, BUT there is a lot of it. Maybe it's not just grease......

Hey bputt, you had your shock revalved....I hope that fixes whatever is causing this. One more ride and I'll be on a pogo stick at this rate.

Neil, I hope that ring of grease is just a ring of grease but mine never had any obvious amount of oil visible like what they are saying towards the beginning of this thread and it's pretty obvious that something is wrong when lifting the bike by hand.

Bobt, don't have the suspension back yet, so no info on a "fix" or not. I hadn't noticed a problem prior to sending the shock out, and didn't have any oil or anything visible on it when I took it off. I only had about 4 hours on the bike at that stage anyway, so the problem may not have really manifested itself yet if it was there.

In any case, sure hope it is NOT when I get it back this week.

The problem is only really starting to show itself now and I have about 10 hours on it.

I had to replace the shock seal on my 2011 six days as well. That 2 inches of slop at the top of the stroke when lifting the bike around is tell tale. I'm amazed how well the bike still handled with a dead shock. It was just like it lost a few clicks of rebound dampening and still very ride-able. I should also add that the bike was under sprung for me at the time.
