2011 EC300E maiden voyage

Krieg: Your dealer should have alerted you to the parts shortage - its noted in a letter from the factory that comes with each bike. Not sure about the 2011 300s, but my 2010s and 2011 XC250 came with the following:

needle: CHN
pilots: 35, 38, 40 ['11 250] or 42
mains: 115!!!, 172, 175, 178, 180

The pilots and mains (with the exception of the little guy) are worth having, but I've been selling CCKs for a replacement needle.
Thanks twowheels!

I found this interesting.
The 2011 GG's have been in New Zealand for a week.
I was at a very hard XC after new years, the bike sales manager turns up with an 11' 300E and the husky 449. He had both because both Husky and GG are imported by the same people.
The GG was bone stock, zokes and ohlins, it was borrowed for a few laps by one of the fastest guys in NZ after he burnt out his clutch, he set 3 of the fastest laps on a bike he rode for the first time that day. He won the event.
So I guess they are very ridable stock then

That's cool.

I'm going to put a little stiffer spring on the rear of mine but if I wasn't such a lard ass I wouldn't have to do anything except put a smaller main jet in mine and it's better set up than anything I've ever had. Rode with a guy on a new YZ250 with the suspension redone for the woods by a well respected suspension tuner and my stock GG had noticably better suspension. I'm no expert at anything 'cept drinking beer so take that for what it's worth.

On the jet subject. I'm at about 1000 feet and it was 30 degrees. My jetting is as follows. From the factory.

Needle N1EF 3rd clip (middle)
Slide 65
Pilot 42
Main 175
Screw was 3 turns out as I found out later.

It ran great everywhere but at WOT. It was fat there.

I put in a 40 pilot and a 172 main. We'll see where that takes me.

Hmmm. Did you add it, or did it come with the bike? Mine has the reservoir cap to fit a lever, but no lever?

Some US models come with the handlenbar mounted choke and some with the side mounted choke. We have sold both. Seems they swiched distributers and didnt have the cable on newer models. The jetting may also much leaner on the later models. If your dealer didnt check it may be worth looking.

I have been told by a reliable source that the jetting may be different from bike to bike. I rode mine around the yard and it seemed great. It was only after I was out on a real ride that I noticed the main jet was pretty fat. I would recommend checking on the jetting before going out on a ride.
