2013 EC250R - 130hrs

What ratio are you running. I've been using 45:1.

Still a nice coating of oil over the piston, and a substantial amount in the crank case. Powervalves and exhaust port oiled but clean and very little carbon.

I don't disagree that more oil is more protection, but my engine also doesn't show any signs of being starved of lubrication.

FWIW i read a couple of dyno studies that claimed more oil=more hp due to increased compression sealing.they even ran 20:1 for giggles!
Factory reccommendation of 50:1 is surely for emissions in those countries that allow plated 2t.That said there are guys claiming no probs with 100:1 amsoil dominator:eek:
I run 40:1 in a 200,if i had a 300 id go 45:1 as i resent paying $35nz for a litre of oil!

I run 50-60:1 ipone synthetic on my 250. The bike is still on mostly stock jetting, which is fairly rich. I spend most of my time below or around 1/2 throttle in the single track, with the occasional rip on the pipe for fun, or when needed.

I'll probably have to adjust that ratio when the Smart Carb is installed.

I'm running Amsoil Dominator.. good lube and very reasonably priced compared to other synthetic options available through local bike shops.

Riding wise, I don't know if I'm hard on engines or not. Our terrain varies a lot, even in a single ride. Quite often the engine is working though.. either well and truly loaded up in technical terrain slipping and lugging, or revving freely and singing whenever the trail opens enough to get into it. I wouldn't say I pitter patter around on it too often though.

Found the time together to get everything back together and give her a kick in the guts. Feels good having some compression under foot again and she fired to life on the first kick. Can't ask for much more.

Few quick runs up and down a hill near home to bed the rings and check for coolant leaks and everything is looking honkey dorey! Got that off idle punch back that was lacking too!

Need to check the tyre pressure, fill the tank, and she'll be ready for a ride come the weekend.
