Hi All,

So i found a place without snow here in Colorado and got my near new 2013 XC 300 out! I rode with a KTM 525 exc and a Beta X trainer. 300xc was just amazing. We switched bikes and played around....I can honestly say I don't think i'll ever own anything but a Gas Gas again.

So I bought mine with only a couple rides on it and the Orig owner prob never got it out of 3rd due to it being new w no scratches! I have a few things I want to address for next ride and hope you guys can help. You have been great with other stuff thank you!!!!! So We ride very, very hard technical single track with alot of it prob be easier on Trials bike...lol. I have an issue with the fork just not being plush enough. I have the clickers all the way out and PFP all the way soft too. It may be that they are not broken in yet?
Has anyone tried the 2.5-5 wt Race Tech oil in them? Also does the head squish vary from bike to bike or is there a set amount that needs to be done?

For the squish - it is not a fixed amount to get it right - you need to measure the specific squish for your machine. See here on RB-Designs website....

Thanks for the reply on that. The thing is I heard here that all '13 300's are off? I'm asking because mine seems just fine but wanted to double check as I rode it yesterday at about 5,500ft and usually we 8-12k.

I would be *very* surprised if the squish was in spec. - it's not just '13s, all model years typically benefit greatly from having head squish dialed in. Cleaner running, greater efficiency, easier jetting, etc. And given your altitude - your incremental benefit will be better than those at lower altitudes...

Have it done and prepare yourself to be "even happier with it"... The best is always "what you know" - until it gets better. :)

For the suspension - it is valved for very aggressive riding and is definitely not suited for the terrain you describe. For tight slow, rocks, etc. "the beatings will continue" until you revalve. I highly recommend Les Tinius @ LT-Racing for best suspension - won't break the bank either...

Or Richard at HofHP for suspension. Get a set of his progressive rate springs and have him do a revalve. While you're at it get one of his pipes and be prepared to be blown away. Send the head to RB designs and if you have the extra coin send the carb too. Get those few things done and be prepared to be amazed! Right now you are riding a plugged up bike that has tons more potential.

I think the forks work very well stock, but they need some ride time before they work well +500mi.
All soft on the settings, not the hot ticket.
The rear shock needs some work on the rebound.

The shock clickers are dialed on good...only the fork all the way out! :) My friend is the guy that does machine work for Slavens here in Colorado and Race Tech. Actually I rode with him yesterday and he will be doing my cylinder head. It actually ran really, really well and pretty dang clean and kinda wondered if they were all off...lol. It was nice to be back on a 300 after my '09 Husqvarna WR 165 :D

Cool! I saw the gasgas and got excited, was disappointed when you guys left, where'd you end up riding? Looking for somewhere good this weekend, did you go to four mile or stultz/Tanner?
