2013 n newer ec owner question

I've cracked the plastic seat base on my 2012 ec300r. I repaired it a while back but think it's days might be numbered. I'm just wondering how hard it would be to fit one of the new seats and bases to my bike. I have already drilled through the seat and mount and have a similar setup to the dues type. Can anyone shed some light on whether or not the newer seat will fit?? Besides being more comfortable to sit on than the rock hard one I have are there any differences in the size n shape??

I have a 2013 seat on my bike, and a 2015 seat sitting in my spares area. I haven't taken the time to confirm it fits, but I bought it under the impression it would.

Yep, I'm pretty sure your right Jakobi, I should have worded my post differently though. My bike is a 2012 and it originally screwed in from the bottom (above the back wheel). I drilled the hole out and it now screws down from the top. I'm hoping that the only difference between mine and yours is that yours screws down from the top of the seat. If so then the newer seats should fit my bike. Hopefully I've explained it a bit better this time. Any idea Jakobi if this is the only difference??

Depends on the sub-frame plastic was different than the aluminum. I tried a 14 seat on my 13 and it did not fit and I think my 13 is a more of a 12.5 than a 13 as it replaced my 12.
I do think with a little creativity any seat could be made to work

I have the plastic subframe so it may be worth a try. Any idea what the alloy subframe is worth in $$$$ in case I need to upgrade?

I think it was around 250 and included a seat. Now that I think about I may have a seat laying around off my 12. I'm out of town now but will check this weekend. What part of the world you in?

Steel subframe on mine. Seat mounts from the top.

Wimpy, what was the specific issue you faced with the 13-14 differences? I haven't taken my newer seat out of its bubble wrap yet.

Hey wimpy, mate I'm in Australia so probably too far away from you. Thanks so much for your input though. Jakobi, any chance you would parts with your 15 seat?? If it fits I'd be happy to pay you the replacement cost.

I could be open to the idea. I'd have to check through my emails and see what I paid for it. My 2013 seat is torn to shreds, so another option could be that I fit the 15 seat to mine and send you down the 13 seat base. I haven't put the 15 seat on mine because I'm so hard on them. Its a shame to see them get torn up where the knees meet the seat. Happened on my 10 and 13.

Take a couple pics of your seat with a tape measure along it and I'll do a quick once over and see how likely they'll be in terms of fitting up.

To save you some grief, the newer seat (14/15) will only fit the 12 if it has the alum subframe. No go on the plastic subframe.
