2018 KTM 250 XC-W Fuel Injection

I really like FI 2strokes, but not so sure I would swap from a trusty PWK carb yet on my bike. Time will tell how good KTM did with this first system.

E-start on ktm was very bad designed and took 7 years to redesign it...... :) so time is the answers.

Not only E-start but almost everything KTM had done ultimately took some years to work as expected.

PDS suspension
350cc engine (timming chain)
Freeride 350 (electronics, boiling, brake fade....)
EFI 4t (fuel filter)
4CS suspension
Mikuni carbs
2T e-start
First model of side air filter not sealing well

So, there a price in all development and KTM is pushing the market ultimately

Research and development at the expense of the consumer.:(

Is there really another way? I doubt if there are (small european) manufacturers that can afford to do all developmemt and testing to get a perfect product before they release the first version to the market.

I think that I spoke too soon. Cycle News just test rode it and they really liked it.

Well they didn't say anything bad. Advertising dollars will get you that. They also said the 6lbs doesn't matter but if it's any other bike I bet it does.

Fact of the matter FI is coming on all 2 strokes. I'll embrace it when it does. But I won't buy a ktm.

Sherco said they can meet Euro4 without it. Its Euro 5.

I'm also looking forward to the FI twostrokes. I was very exited when Ossa presented their new engine, and was also a fan of the Bimota V Due. However, none of these made it.
From a practical viewpoint, I am very happy with my Lectron equipped GG. But from a theoretical viewpoint, I'm looking forward to the FI bikes. But I won't be first in line at the dealers when they arrive. Otoh, I never have been. Have bought all my bikes second hand.

Sherco also say they have the FI bike ready, but they'll wait until the market demens is there.

KTM isn't exactly a "small European manufacturer". They outsold every other European manufacturer, and had revenue of over $1 BILLION in 2015. Nevertheless, their record of releasing underdeveloped products as has been recorded in other posts speaks for itself.

I'd like to see GG produce as many motorcycles as KTM and see if there is any releasing underdeveloped products

The 2012 GasGas' were rushed to market.

They have really turned things around. My '15 GG has been the most trouble free bike that I've owned.
