Clay,

Whats the fate of the 250F? New frame like 2-strokes? Old frame? Forks? Gone from lineup? Curious, thanks.

GasGas announced that they were racing a 250F and a 450F in the WEC series next year.
I heard the Yamaha engine source has "dried" up, so no telling what motor they will use.
GasGas supposedly is supplying BETA with 2 stroke motors next year. Maybe a BETA 4 stroke powerd GasGas is in the works.

Glenn,
I was told that Yamaha finally agreed to sell GG current 250 and 450 engines but that the price was going up substantially. The 250 and 450 F will get the new frame but I doubt we will bring either of them in. 250F sales have been pretty slow for us.

From google translator:

the new Gas Gas 4 Times in February

Maybe it shows up in Feb?

Would it ever be possible for KTM to supply Gas Gas with their old RFS engines ? Strange times and all that...

GG should get their hands on the Sherco 250/300 FI motor. Very compact and light motor and 6 speeds. Parts are a whole nother ball game though compared to a Yammi motor. Still the Sherco motor really is sweet as are the bikes.

As much as I like GasGas when it comes to 250F's i would have to pick the Husqvarna. Both the 250 and the 310 are awesome bikes and both come with or without blinkers for 2012. Very nice bikes in the woods, I've tried them both. 450,s goes to GasGas. Even my 03 gas gas was a nicer riding bike.

Ask fury1 how good the Husky 250F is. I know of another guy who blew his up three times. A very performance oriented motor, with reliability/longevity as a second thought. BMW parts chain management is nothing to write home about either. Cool bike, but I don't think you can beat the Yam or GG/Yam for a bike you can ride for awhile without hassles. JMO.

Remember the GG press release when they announced they signed Cervantes. I'm recalling from memory but I think it said he would ride the 250 2T for the first year and then begin work on development on a new 4T motor after that. It could be that they are using him to develop their own 250 and 450 4T motors but maybe he's working on a 350 4T motor. Just speculation on my part.
Honestly, I'm not super concerned either way. There seems to be such a huge shift from 4Ts back to 2Ts every where I go. When a dealer in Las Vegas tells you there is a lot more interest in 2Ts now, it must be happening everywhere in the US.
Question for you guys out of the US: Is the shift away from 4T back to 2T happening in your countries, too?
Thanks!
Clay

I am not out of the country, but with H-Berg using the KTM power plant, to sell more bikes it seems that way. Fantic, OSSA, TM and I am sure there are others that are on the 2 stroke band wagon!

What was very surprising to me, is walking into a Husky dealer and seeing a '10 Husky TE310 marked down well below a '10 WR300.

Yeah I must admit when I started riding 18mths ago there were mostly 4T's. Now most of the people I ride with are on the 2T. Either it is a case of "birds of a feather flock together" or 2T's are making a huge comeback!!

I still have my 4T but it hasn't been ridden for 9mths now, the 2T is just too much fun.

I've been seeing a huge return to the 2 strokes in the past two years. Especially racers! Most are saying they are changing because of the weight and repair costs. There are very few interested in 250 4T here. Now if a 350 4T was available there would be some interest. More guys asking about 450 4t than 250 4t.

down this part of the world we have been cursing and blaming the US for the end of the jap 2t enduro bikes! There are still lots of riders sticking to 2t and some of the South African dealers sell the yammi yz250 with a WR gearbox conversion suspension setup for enduro and it is a v popular bike. But after all the mods are done it comes out more expensive than a GG 300 and is still an MX bike at heart!

On the MX track it is still more of a 4t show, and i have a feeling that this is how it will end up, 4t for the track and 2t for the bush
