300 PV question

Can you remove the cylinder with the PV assembly intact? I had a very minor sieze on my 04 300, so I need to do a top end.
Hopfully I can find a shop in Vegas to do the machine work.

Yes, you can remove it with the assembly in tact. You must unhook the actuator arm though. Take the starboard side cover off, behind the exhaust pipe, unhook the top of the actuator. You will have to to loosen the base nut anyway.

The little nylock nut on the top of the actuator arm should be locktited so heat it up a bit before removing. A lot of us have found out the hard way that it's real easy to break the threaded post that's welded to the actuator cam. The nylock nuts can be picked up at Lowes in a bag of 4-5 for a couple of dollars.

There is a chance you will break the stud anyway, sometimes the nuts are too tight. Its a good idea to pick up a spare actuator plate when you buy your top end parts, there cheap.

Oh, don't pull up on the arm or you may move the governer and dislodge the balls.
