300 shifter

I just bought my first Gas Gas..a 2011 ec300. I noticed that the shifter is closer to the peg than my 2007 KTM. Ive read that some have bought an oem mx125 shifter. Has anyone tried the longer mx125 shifter, if so, how does it work?

Also, just like the last post, my kickstand tab broke off. Has anyone tried to weld in a threaded nut the size of the roller bolt?

Thanks.

No idea re the shifter. I'm using a mainjet shifter which has a slightly different spline offset to the factory one. Although I've recently bent that so that it sits too close to the ignition cover and now it's rubbing. Can't bend it back either, it's strong I'll give it that. Ill look at a new one now I guess.

Re the kickstand tab, from memory it's easiest to take it on and off with the swingarm on and linkages in place. There is stuff all clearance between the kickstand tab and lower linkage support (bolts to bottom of frame under swingarm mount can't think of exact name) with which to get the chain roller bolt in and out. Even welding a 1mm washer to the inside of the tab tightens the clearance so something as thick as a nut welded there may inhibit your ability to maneuver the chain roller bolt in through the kickstand tab and into the kickstand mount itself.

Thanks for the replies

Good point on the clearance. I may have to grind down the bolt or use something else

Are the aftermarket shiters below any longer than oem?

How do you all deal with the close shifter? Do you adapt after a few rides?

I sold my Hammer Head shortly after I bought it. I found that I preferred the stock length and and I did not like the longer throw on the longer shifter. The Ebay $23 special is similar in length to the stocker.
