back going out?!

If you go this year,, look for me,, I have this super huge pop-up trailer,, biggest thing you ever saw.. ok.. its tiny,, one bed and a sofa type thing.. on the back of a jeep wrangler.. but I'll have a cooler full of beer and other refreshments...

I just have to find riding boots.. mine blew out last ride..

Will do. Good luck on the boots, they can really hurt the wallet

Sad part is I really need all new gear,, Boots,, helmet,, pants,, going with Klim on those.. Have two pair of well worn GG/hebo pants to fall back on but looks odd riding the katoom with em.. Only new thing I have is my CP.. With the back issues I put off buying anything in case I had/have to give up riding.. but its coming to the point I have to get it all..

Ed,

I DO have a fairly big popup. It will just be me and a friend, so plenty of room. if you need a place to camp give me a heads up.

Steve, most of my gear is ready to be replaced too. I'd like to get the Klim stuff, but will most likely get Moose M1 gear again. I love my SG10's and I'll never find a deal like I did on eBay when I got them.

Glenn, thanks. If my family comes down I will probably stay with the at my sister-in-laws. BTW this is coming fast! The calendar is just flying by.

so far a couple pop-ups and a tent in the woods.. I got an easy up and another guy is bringing his.. I got a small propane grill if needed..

BTW,, got about 25-30 miles on today.. back feels fine.. hands well thats another story.. but the back feels good. Unloaded the bike, had a good beer, then took a nap for 2-1/2 hours with my dog laying on my chest.. wife said he climbed up as soon as I was snoring and went to sleep.. good thing he is only 30#'s..

Looks like I will be coming down. I will be leaving Friday night so I am still working logistics.

Excellent! Are you riding Sat and Sun or just Sun? I could go either way. if Sat is real mellow sand road stuff I could come down and set up in the afternoon. I'm open.

My objective would be to ride Sat and as much of Sunday as I could, but if there is a better plan I am open to it. My plan is pushing the limit of too much in a little time, so less may be better. What is the ride usually like?

From what I hear, Sun is the better day. Last year I just did Sunday and it was totally awesome. Steve has done it more than me, he will have better input. I just don't like riding on easy stuff all day, which is why I don't do most dual sports. My guess is Sat is more open but not boring. ECEA.org should produce some info as well.

saturday is a little more open,, a touch of blacktop and forest road.. and the trails that run along the rails.. the speed on saturday is not as fast usually.. Sunday is faster, more like an enduro type terrain with less opt outs so the big bikes usually dont go out on sunday. The issue I have on sunday some guys treat this like a race and go full out and almost run you over.. it is a fun ride after all.. The trails are epic either day.. I do both.. I run saturday all day and try to do 1/2 to 3/4 of sunday.. gas stop is nuts on sunday.. or it was last year.. they changed direction from the year before.. looked like 400 bikes lined up for a station with one island.. may of had two.. I know when I stopped to get in line I was over 100 yards back..

Thats why you gotta start early, go fast and get there first!;)

I was haulin' ass up front last year and then had that electrical problem that turned out to be a wet coil wire, wound up in the middle somewhere. We did skip the hot dogs in the woods though.

Well, I was planning on Steve's approach. I will confirm as we get closer....and it's coming fast!

I'll work out the details with my buddy this week. Once your on these trails, with no rocks and no whoops, tacky sandy dirt, you can't help but twist it.

So,, thinking of a new rear tire for this ride,, mainly as when I bought the 450 last year I said "I'll need new tires right away!". And they are still on. S12? For the rear bridgestone 59 front?? Been about 4 years since I bought tires that weren't dot. I'm planing on a trials for up here in the summertime and I'm going to get a second rear wheel for that. Maybe two as I have a set of dot tires to get through inspection.

Steve thats exactly what I'll run, S12/M59. I raced last week with an MT-16/M59 and it worked fine. Any soft terrain tire works in sand, for me anyway.
