Best tire for Tubeless system

I had a dunlap 803 trials tire to use up plus they are easy to mount , I looked at a desert tire but it may be to hard for rocky ,slimy east coast riding . So what do you think I should give a shot to ? I saw some people said the Sedona is decent but I am not sure ? I am going to ride the trials tire till the stud time comes they are a pain to put on to .
 
I'm running the Maxxis Desert IT and it's awesome. Local singletrack in damp or dry, and a recent Moab trip. We rode Slickrock dry, and in the rain and this tire is awesome! I've been running about 4psi but the lower the better.
 
I run the Maxxis IT (not the desert version!) in the rear and Maxxis SI in the front. Both have the Tubliss system. Great wear, very predictable, and great traction running 7-8psi front and 4-5psi rear.
 
I have been running the Sedona MX 907HP with TuBliss at 5 psi. It has performed very well so far. It is very stable, handles well and has great traction across a wide range of soils, roots and rocks. However, I don't have any use on the greasy wet clay yet. That will be the real test.

The regular IT has a 4-ply carcass, and the sidewalls/bead is more flexible, is easier to mount on a rim, and has a 'softer' ride overall.
The Desert IT has a 6-ply carcass, and the knobs are a little bit wider. They are also a real pain to mount on a rim.

I was also told by a tire guy that the Desert has a slightly softer rubber compound because it is stiffer.
They both perform and wear about the same, but for desert riding you will naturally get more reliability from the desert.
 
Thank you SS109 clears that up now what tire do I try :confused: I would lean toward the softer wall for mounting and ride reasons .
 
If you are running the tubliss then I think you should look for the stiffest side wall possible since you can run it at low to no pressure. Although I can't speak to how the non dessert version is as I've never used it.

As far as mounting goes, thinking back I guess it's probably harder, but I do a lot of tire changes going back and forth from a knobby to a paddle and I don't think its that big of a deal. I've been running the desert IT for years.

One of the great advantages of the Tubliss is that it stiffens the sidewall via it's 360 degree clamping force so that you can run softer sidewall tires and ultra low pressures.
 
I run the Pirelli Extra-X 110/100 with the Tubliss on the rear at 5 psi. I would call it a "good" tire, not excellent in any area but solid in most conditions (I rarely ride in sand). It lasts and doesn't chunk in the rocks. It replaced the Pirelli trials tire which I liked particularly on wet rocks but got a little tricky on down hills and side hills. With Tubliss at 4-5psi I can't see going back to a trials tire for my typical conditions. I'm on an 06 ec 300.

I have tubliss front and rear.
was running a Pirelli trials before the tubliss bc it has the thickest sidewall.
then went to tubliss but still with trials.
last ride switched to a new Dunlop 31, which is nop longer available I guess replaced by 32.
sidewall is not insane like a desert it though but still heavy compared to a trials.
anyhow, running at 4pis it is great.
I love the trials but this combo hookups up better in a lot of places.
I can accelerate easier up some sand hills.
I think it helps turning go up hills too.
I only have one ride on it so far.
started with 10psi and hated it.
kept lowering and stopped at 4psi.
might try less next ride.
