Body armour

troy lee designs shock doctor 7705 pants (my buddy got the hw "hot weather" version but they have a little less padding then mine) mine get warm I see why they made a warm weather version but I like the extra padding... and I wont have to change up gear for riding in the snow

I got the pants so I didn't need the knee socks for my asterisk cell knee braces (acl reconstruction on both knees my cti knee braces are bulkier and less knee cap protection, and the straight across the back of the tension straps pinch the skin behind my knee which usually resulted in more pain then 90% of my wipe outs, but both really help keep my knees together)

the troy lee shock doctor 7588 hw long sleeve shirt.... fits me good and has saved me from a few big get offs this year... I questioned its durability when i got it, but its taking a beating good so far.

ogio fight vest... I know its technically not armour really, but it feels like another layer before I directly hit the ground and the water bladder is a little extra spine protection. I like the better balance it has then everything on your back

suomy mr jump helmet .... I wish I knew what a lighter helmet does for you a lot longer ago then I did

alpinestar tech 8 boots, the removable inner boot makes back to back to back days a lot drier to start and help keep the funk to a minimum

I work shift work and can ride from my garage so I get to put about 3-4000 km. a year on my 11 ec 300 and this is by far the most comfortable and best protection combo I've had in...... ever. if I can replace worn out pieces with same stuff in the future I will. I don't heal up like I used to so getting hurt in the first place is not an option. less injury time = more riding

EVS ballistic armor/kidney belt, EVS glider knee pads, Sidi crossfire boots and Shoei V-Moto helmet. I test it quite often!!

Body armor suits are too hot for me in AZ.

Fox Titan Pro knee and elbow guards, and a Fox chest protector.

I like to run a MSR roost pac as well (for wallet, keys, phone...keeps a pistol close too), can't use it with the armor suits.

I have the POD K300 knee braces. But for trail riding they slip down and are a PITA.
Anyone else have them and issues?
And for you with different brands do you have slipping issues?
Thanks

I have to keep my boots fairly tight to keep the knee guards from slipping.

Yes - good point.

Maybe it has to do with the undergarments under the knee braces. I currently have some AlpineStar thigh high (that is weird typing) socks / under knee brace things I wear. They are quite slick so maybe if I was to try something else like someone posted on here with TroyLee LPP 7705 Pants.....never dreamed I would want to wear something like that under all my gear....

I don't like the elastic band around my arms.....it is crazy:eek: I don't wear elbow protection either....something about the elastic bands that drive me nuts....

I am with you on this but where I ride and if take a dump in the trees and/or rocks I have to wear them.

I have heard great things about these. They may be more for Mt Bikers but the gear is all pretty much the same (except for maybe the helmets).

i need to get the troy lee tights as well...yea bit ghey sounding, I have a couple pairs fox thigh highs , they like to fall down too, it drives me nuts.

how well vented are the troy lees? no one in town stocks them

The troy lee top is vented good... the pants not so much... like I said the hw version is a little cooler but less padding .

As for knee brace slidding I mounted the anti rotation strap that comes with asterisk's it clips knee brace to boot in a plan to twist at the hip instead of knee but it also keeps braces pretty planted if you have riveted buckles you will have to drill into your boots and inside the boot pants need to have a hole cut for strap to pass, deal breakers for some i know.... my way around it is I use over the boot fox nomad pants but just un zipped the legs off any way and run them as shorts. I don't like my braces after a half hour without something under them.

I just retired the old Moose/Acerbis CP 11 years old:D That thing has seen over 100 races....

Bought the TLD 5955, haven't received it yet.

I have had great success with a simple zip tie from the elbow guard to the upper arm protector. I have even used an old dog collar cut to 6" strips and riveted elbow guards to the upper upper arm protectors. It really worked great, you could run them loose and they stayed in the right spot all the time.

I will post some pics of this set up with the TLD. I should be doing it this week.

Knee guards are the std shin/guard. I've tried other types but I can't squeeze the bike with the inside of my knees very well with the brace stuff.

Asterisk cell knee braces, ive hear guys dont like the ultra cells. Fly $300 helmet, pretty light, i dont remember the name. Moose qualifier otb pants are pretty sweet for the $ and not flashy. I keep buying astar tech 6's off the web used, i like them. Fox chest protector, its the only one that really fits me well, im. 290lbs.

I just bought the POC spine body armour. You should check this stuff out its expensive but the tech is wild. All progressive material, the harder you hit the harder the dough gets. It's cool stuff just more popular in Europe.

I've been wearing the Sette Imact Pressure Suit for the last two seasons......it has taken a lot of hits......and I have had only minor bruises. I'm not new to riding motorcycles, but I've been riding a lot with a group of guys that are way above my skill level. It has been great for improving my riding skills......and I've been thoroughly testing my protective gear.

The mesh is starting to rip in a couple of places, and the zipper hasn't been working the smoothest lately so I ordered a 661 Comp Suit. I didn't realize that the one that I ordered didn't have the hard plastic chest piece, so I may sell it and look for something else.

I've been happy with my standard Fox knee/shin guards, but when I replace them I will look into a brace.

I use a set of these, no problems.

I have the custom cti's and they are awesome. It's like your not wearing any braces at all with all the protection still there. I got lucky because my company insurance covered them or I would never pay the high cost

We can't wear those suits down here in the South. Waaaayyy too damn hot for that stuff.
