Can I soften 2012 300

Hi All, I am in the UK and bought a 2012 last year to replace my 05 300 which was really really strong on the bottom and had a lovely smooth transition onto the pipe.
I love my new bike in every way but the power is like an on off switch, comes on the pipe with a big hit. Is this all down to jetting ?
I was thinking of flywheel weights but its estart so non available.
Any ideas much appreciated. Thanks.

A G2 throttle tamer might help if you haven't tried one. I also have a 2012 estart but my experience is that it is nice and linear so you might have a jetting issue.

Another place to look would be the PV bellcrank, there is a Sticky at the top of the engines section that goes into detail about that but I'm no expert.

Talk to Jake re jetting mate.
No doubt you have the N1ef standard crappy needle. Change it out to an N3eh or the like and you ill be amazed.
Cheers MArk

fit the thickest base gasket you can get or maybe even two.

So that's going to raise the port timing & lower the compression. how exactly is this going to help pray tell?

Try jetting first & foremost. . . . actually & the PV, sometimes they are so badly set up from new, a mate's 12 has more slop than not.

You could also change change the preload on the power valve governor and that will move the actuation rpm of the power valve. You can retard the ignition timing slightly, but that will give you more of an overall power reduction. A flywheel weight would soften the hit.

preload is a little difficult using the lever arm position, if you are trying to soften down low & have negative preload the valve can still open too early on its own accord. just a bit unpredictable.

Unless you are adding tension with washers but I haven't tried that.

Sorted

Thanks to all that replied. now sorted with the help of this forum I ordered an NEDW needle wow what a difference. All I can say is I love my bike lol Loads of bottom end smooth transfer onto pipe just what I wanted. Thanks Again.

Good outcome! Makes a decent difference in delivery, as well as fuel economy and general ridability - and will still go like a cut snake if you twist the throttle.

oldnslow, can you please post the link of the needle you got? Christini sent me a flywheel weight, which is what I'm going to try first....but I'm very interested in the needle as well.

I found this: http://www.partzilla.com/parts/detail/suzuki/SP-13383-37FL0.html
Is this what you are talking about?

Also, what clip position are you running? Different from stock position?
