Hey, just thought I'd say hello.

Just picked up a 2011 EC250 Six Days. Was looking for a new bike for quite a while, had looked at a few KTM's. Found this EC that ScottyR had for sale, did some research and made the deal.

My previous few bikes were a 2006 WR250F, and a 2008 FE450 Husaberg.

I have yet to get out on the new bike, but cant wait.

Totally! You'll love the transition from Yamaha 250F to the EC250. Looking forward to the initial ride report and welcome to the forums.

Was out for 3 hours today on the bike, mainly played in a friends field. Went ahead and made a decent little area, lots of tight turns and a couple of LONG straights and for good measure I used the drainage ditch in 2 spots. First ditch area was after a 90* left turn, quick blip of throttle on exit down into ditch and jump out into a rocky section of the field. Second ditch area I used coming down the hill into it 45* turn followed ditch for 100' then a 90* left back up into field.

I LOVE MY GAS GAS

This has to be the most fun I've had on a bike in years, nice controlable power. Handles so sweet, weighs next to nothing compared to my previous 4 Strokes. I sure dont regret buying a 2 stroke I'll tell ya that, FUN. Cant wait to get out on some single track with it.

My 2 boys were with me, Mason on his TTR50 and Joe was sidelined due to a broken arm ( sustained last weekend on his TTR125L )

Mason rode a less challenging spot we made a while back, nice open area. He is turning 6 on Wednesday. Quick learner, always on the pegs, dont think he'd notice if I took his seat off :)

But the pair of them ended up just watching me mostly, the little guy kept telling me how awesome my wheelies were lol. Just glad there wasnt any GOOD riders there cuz he woulda realised DAD isnt that great lol.

LOL thats cool and Dad's are always "great" in their kids eyes :). Congrats on your new GG and welcome. Hey was the jetting already sorted for you?

The bike was setup by the previous owner, has an FMF Gnarly on it. I'm only guessing but I'd think he rejetted for it or had a tech do it for him.

Jetting seemed good, possibly a bit soft/fat in the bottom. But I did notice when cleaning the bike that the map switch was in the rain setting, I forgot all about the switch and never tried the sunny setting, maybe that would have woke up the botom a bit ? Not that it was lacking, just mellow compared to what I was expecting going to a 2T. Mid range was real strong, and pulled well up top.

Dont think its as quick as the FE450, that bike scared me more than once lol.

And yes we are Super Man to the kids :) hell I still look up to my Dad like he is a super hero.

UMM yep the sun mode is gonna wake things up so.....hold on :D! LOL I mean it double post and I don't drink.

Good to know lol, thing power wheelies on command even in rain mode....guess the young lad will think I'm really Super Man next time out....or be laughin his butt off as I loop it out hahaahaaaa.

Was kinda wondering why it seemed so forgiving and mellow. Maybe the old FE wasnt as quick as I remembered afterall either

funny you say that about the sunny mode, on our last ride the bike seemed kinda slugish(i was riding in rainy mode the last few rides) and i switched er over to sunny and man did it wake the bike up:D

It won't make any difference right off the bottom, but it will drop the RPM where the steep advance starts, so it will feel more torquey sooner in the rev range. This is based on good jetting.

I'm betting for a slow guy like me, that rain mode in the single track will work out just fine.

But I'm sure gonna try out the sunny setting next ride :D I think its more going from the 4T to the 2T why the bottom felt a bit weak more so than the jetting being off.

Bit premature to give the chassis a real run down, since I wasnt in any ruts/roots/trees today. But I can say that its much more planted feeling and more controled for me turning/braking/accelerating than on my Husaberg. Feels soooo much lighter, and lower than the Berg, I really like this EC. I dont feel like a noob on it :)

Damn, this thing is awesome. After this ride I'll never go back to a 4 stroke.

I'm slow, but this bike made things sooooo easy compared to my previous bikes. I could actually push myself a bit and still feel in control. I tried to stand as much as my legs would allow, I gotta admit I'm outta shape and had to sit to rest though. Legs are burning tonight.

Not sure why guys think you cant run a gear high and lug a 2T, this thing is like a tractor. But damn lively in the mid to upper range, so fun.

I setup the controls, moved the bars ahead and rolled them forward a bit, lowered the brake pedal and moved it to the front holes too. Much better now, I wasnt hunting for the brake pedal, and the bars didnt feel like they were in my lap. Big improvement.
I found it pretty roomy setup like this, I'm 6' and I did not feel cramped sitting or hunched over while standing.

I did find down shifting from 2nd to 1st caused me a few problems today. Coming into real tight corners in single track I wound up finding neutral which made exiting the corner smoothly impossible....click her down roll in the corner and get on the gas expecting drive only to find none caused some balance issues lol, never dropped her but I'm suprised I didnt.

Upshifting on the other hand was silky smooth.

Gotta say, even though these are built with competitive riders in mind, they sure make a slow guy feel pretty good about himself :D
