All greetings
What could be the problem?
I can not start a motorcycle with gas throttle shut off.
To start it, I must give it powerfull kick with wide open throttle,

When he is at idle, have good idly.

Allso he starts rendomly fron first kick or from therd, or tens... I do not see dependence

Please help

I have the same issue with the *kicker*. Even after the Lectron carb and head mod.

I can?t quite find the rhyme or reason.

The eStart fires up right away.

In my case, half is fresh, the other half was sitting in a very hot garage for a few weeks.

My 2011 GG was always a quick starter under the same conditions.

I've found stale fuel can severely inhibit starting ability. If I ride every weekend she tends to start 1 or 2 kicks. If I leave it weeks to months it can take some more effort.

Is your air filter somehow getting wet when washing? Any chance you're pulling some moisture into the engine when trying to start?

I tend to roll the engine through a few cycles before I commit. Find top dead center and get some good compression under the foot, and give a nice firm full kick with the choke on, no throttle. If it doesn't fire I repeat. I don't keep the bike on choke for more than 10 seconds usually.

The weird thing is, as stated above, sometimes starts in one or two kicks. Sometimes seven. Warm or cold.

Sometimes I give up and hit the eStart and it *always* starts. Warm or cold.

I'd check float level and clean pilot jet but also the choke hole into the throat. Also while you are at it the sparkplug cap swap out and see if it gets better should be circa 5k resistance.

Reading what I wrote above my cold starting got instantly better when I put newer carb on. I bet the choke feed hole was blocked. Never worried about it as once warm was never a problem.

Ок, i will try to start with choke nex time. But it's not first start issue, so kind of behavior i get while riding.
And now i remembering - i never use fool throttle while first start, only choke, so mayby i should fire ewery time with choke, even on fully warm engine ?

Ahh warm engine different story.

Clutch drag! Many have a little drag which makes starting in gear a bit more sensitive than in neutral.

And hot starting.. Many 4 strokes offer a hot start lever - allows air into the carb to help hot starting. The simple work around on a 2T is to open the throttle a bit. I can't remember last time I started the bike once warm without a bit of throttle.

If I've laid it over and flooded it then it gets wide open throttle and a few good kicks.

Your post makes a lot of sense.

Yes, the cold motor with the choke starts immediately

I always start engine on the gear (it's almost impossible to find a neutral, but this is another topic). So the clutch probably takes a lot of kick power. So the OIL also matters...

My a "bit of throttle" is 50% +
Is this the same with E-starter?

Ahh. So in gear will slow kick start down and immediately after but electric keeps going.

Attend to drag and will make finding neutral easier, but is possible to start in gear if clutch good.

Plenty of threads so read up. Also many on oil for clutch, and heaven help me starting an oil thread, but I've found Motul Transoil Expert to work well (where as plain Motul Transoil drags).

I brought a couple of rules how to more effectively kickstart
1. bring the piston to top dead center
2. open throttle 50% +
3. energetically kick
5. use more liquid oil - ATF is very fine

thanks everyone for the help!
