i have a 2012 300 and would like to know if there is an easy way to remove and refit the carb , thanks in advance british

On my 06 I normally take the seat off, remove the 2 top subframe bolts, loosen the 2 clips either side of the carb, rotate the carb, unscrew the cap, lean on the subframe a bit to get some room and pop the carb out. You might need to release some electrical connectors and remove your frame guards if there isn't enough give.

On my 12 I undone jubilee clips from air box and intake, took frame guard off.prised the rubber off by using a big flat driver between the frame, it wasn't easy espeacaily as it was cold and not much give.repeat in reverse to refit.
I can't see any other easier way, I did look at taken the air box boot off but that looked like a major job

On my '12's I found it much easier to raise the sub-frame and remove, this requires you to remove the silencer, seat, side panel, the 4 lower sub-frame bolts
the 2 hose clamps and throttle cable. It sounds like a big deal but the easiest (i think).

Do you want to remove it completely or just change the jetting?

If it is the latter you loosen the jubilee clips rotate top towards yourself remove cap and slide then it can rotate all the way back to expose the base. Oops that is for the 10-11 not sure if it is different for later models

On my 2013 I managed to get to the jets by removing the tank, removing the carb cap and then access to slide and needle. Pilot and main easily accessed by loosening clamps and rotating towards the sprocket. I use the same method on the 2010 although the tank removal isn't neccessary, I just find it a bit easier to get everything aligned right with some more room to work.

In regards to removal, haven't done it on the newer model, but the old I always flip the subframe up. Same method as John said. Takes a little work, but almost always easier than working in a confined place.

Jake, may I say congrats on the '13 model. After working my niggles out I'm happy with my '12's . The 250e is up on the block wink wink nudge nudge.

Thanks John.. I'll probably kick off a thread about it soon. I do for everything else so why not :)

Pretty much the same for removal - i just grab the tab on the air boot with a pair of pliers and force it back towards the rear of the bike - carb pops out.

If its cold try warming the boot with a hairdryer, this will give the boot some flexablity. I have been able to remove my carb this way with out pulling the subframe.
