Chain tension

hi

sorry if already discussed...

how you measure the chain tension?

while i put the wheels on an stand i meassured about two fingers(30mm) between the rear arm (after the slider) and the chain.

while i return the wheels back to ground the tension is high! and seems very stiff

Does the mesurment taken while the bike on stand or on a ground or combination of both position with two step...?

OK, and when you put back the bike on ground.

How is the tension?

Could you move the chain up and down? in my case its so tight...

Get a friend and both of you lay across the seat and pull up on the swing arm. The goal is to get the swing arm to the midpoint of its arc where the chain is the tightest.
At that point the chain should have just a little slack. Mine has about 1/2 in. at that point.
Once that's done and adjusted for, you can use as many fingers as you get where ever you want (on the stand or on the ground), for future reference.

Or you can drop the dog bone off the linkage, take out the lower mount for the shock, and then freely move the swingarm through its range of motion to find the tightest spot.
