Clutch???

Let me start off by saying this is my first dirt bike & I'm as green as they come.

I noticed my clutch not engaging completely the other day while pushing my bike across the garage. Today I jumped on it started it in neutral, when I shifted down to first I could feel & hear it go into 1st. I rode it around my neighborhood & had no trouble shifting into other gears.

I’m sure I have “over-used” the clutch while trying to ride with my son of his TTR50. The bike is a 2000 MC250. Every shop around here (Mississippi) wants me to bring the bike in so they look at the bike, because none are familiar with GasGas.

My questions are: Is there any kind of adjustments? Do I have to order GasGas parts or will they interchange with other brands? What’s a decent price to replace the clutch if need be?

Maybe you mean not Dis-engaging completely ?? Dragging ??

There are a few posts on this, do a search.

Quickly, 1) Use Shell Rotella 5W-40 Synthetic Oil.
2)Make sure your Clutch hand lever is adjusted properly so it can "gulp" more fluid when it needs to.
See the AJP America website for procedure. On Video, trials oriented, but info is the same...
3) Clutch basket may have ribbs worn in the fingers, these will have to be
filed smooth.

Most likely, if it's just dragging a little bit, and not lurching forward when you drop it into gear, it's a matter of running the correct oil to solve your issue. If you're bored, pull the clutch apart (super easy) and check the basket tines for ribs. If it's ribbed, you probably need to throw money at it, but a quart of oil is cheap, and worth a try to see if it solves your problem.
