converting 99 ec250 front end

I would like to convert my front suspension to 50mm Zokes or WP for a reasonable cost, to do this I believe that I need everything including the front wheel from a 01-05 bike. Anyone parting one out? My bike is tore down now and I might be interested in more parts.

Thanks

Brian

I did something similar,, best bet is someone parting a GG out.. check in the FS someone I think just had a complete front end fs..

I think the WP conventional 50mm forks that came on late '90s KTM and Gas Gas six days bikes were superb, also dorr cheap used. Another option is to buy a complete '96-'99 RM and swap front ends. That fork is a Showa conventional 50mm twin chamber. A phenomenal front end. Do the swap, sell the RM for what you paid for it. Free!

Actually its 96 to 98 Showa 49 mm twin chambers. Ive got the complete front end here. Forks, front wheel & clamps.Guys I know, pro's, who raced those Suzuks claim those were the best forks ever.

I'm in kinda off a canundrum. I've got these 49 Showas as spares, freshly rebuilt Ohlin 46's on my soon to be sold to my girlfriends son 02 ec 250 and my 011 is coming with 45 Zokes and my other steed, Beta 570 has 45 zokes as well.I'd love to put the Showas on the Beta but I dont think the stock RM hub is beefy enough to handle the extra weight of the 570 and building a custom hybrid is to much work. So I'm thinking putting the 49 Showas with the RM wheel and clamps on the kids bike, the Ohlins and lower clamp on the 011 xc 300 and maybee just leaving the Beta alone. I did re spring and revalve the Beta forks but they are pretty cheezy internaly compared to the Ohlins and current stock KTM and japanese offerings.I dont know about the 011 zokes but I'd be suprised if they are any better than the Beta zokes, no Kashima coating, ect. Confused yet?

Been thinking of picking up one of those RM's just to rob the forks. There's a '96 RM 250 on craigslist locally for $1300. Looks new. Problem is, it's too much bike for my 13 year old and I have no need, just want.

At least your able to change your focus by getting out to ride.. I'm looking at eight inches of snow and freezing rain. I cant even leave my house to get something to drown my sorrow because the roads look like a god forsaken skating rink. Boo hoo!

Well if you feel like letting go of the front end assembly, let me know. I used to ride an rmx 250 and I loved the front end. I am kind of braindead when it comes to suspension so it was one of those "you don't know what you have until its gone" things. It was real complient and had that point and shot quality that only my gasser could match

I have a set of 2003 43mm wp's with clamps, axle, spacers. I also have the nissin brake parts aswell. Caliper and master with line. The 2000 and 2003 hubs have the same part number so you should be able to just swap out the bearings and seals.

PM sent Thanks

Well as I PMed GasGas - disregard this post. Went overbudget on a few other items (on my street bike) so this mod will have to wait until next year

Thanks everyone for the information as I do plan on doing this mod in the future. I know my bike is a 99 but it runs great, handles well and is well maintained. I am a C class harescrambler so I am not at the edge of its limits, there is no need for a new bike until my talent improves. :)
