Coolant in crankcase after rebuild

Isn't there an o-ring between the cases? It's been a while since I had a set apart, I'm probably thinking of a different brand. But this is a big bummer to hear you are having these problems. good luck finding the issue, make sure to let us know what happened so we can all learn from your "opportunity!"

On a positive note...I certainly know my way around these motors now...Top to bottom. Pun intended.

I have another center gasket and an extra set of crank seals. Thanks for the offer Girard.

You can leave everything on the right side intact. No need to pull the clutch cover etc.

Just remove the case bolts, flywheel and sprocket.

Was their an o-ring leaking or was it the center gasket? I'm getting ready to put the bottom end of my 06 back together and just want to make sure I don't miss something.

There is no O-ring. The gasket looked fine, I didn't see anything that was done on re-assembly that caused the leak...

When it went back together a second time I used yamabond around the coolant passage in the case halves. Just a little bit on one case half and then a little more on the gasket where it meets the other half. The mating surfaces on the case halves where the coolant passage is are pretty uneven from the factory, so I filed the area a bit to make a more flush mating surface.
