Crashed on Monday, be careful riding.

Really sorry to hear about your crash. Hope you heal quickly and can get back to your normal everyday activities. Keep us posted on the healing process.

I can see that happening. Thats the thing with the 300s, a lot of extra juice to manage up top. Too much twist at the wrong time and "oh crap!" When you can spin wrenches again, get yourself a G2 throttle, that way any inadvertant twist at less than half throttle will register less in the engine room.

Someone just put one in the classifieds. Check it out.

I'm sorry to hear about the crash too. I wish you a speedy recovery.

Thats Girard, it sold already. Steve is bringing one to the Hammer Run for me for the new scoot. I won't ride without one now, so much more control. Really nice with a lighter flywheel, no need for the heavy 2K-3.

Another reminder for me to pick up some neck protection... I did a header last sept and my legs went numb. I was in rugged terrain and fifteen miles from the nearest road... Luckily I was fine - although my helmet should be replaced...

A friend of mine went over the bars a few months ago and broke c2/c3. paralyzed from the neck down.... He wasn't going that fast.... It was dusty and I think he got caught off guard when his front wheel got swallowed by a big whoop in a corner....

Be safe out there. I hope that you heal quickly and be thankful to be alive and with your family.

Yeah, me too, except the only one that I can wear with any degree of comfort so far is the EVS, but its very restrictive. The Leatt is out, it sits right on my clavicle plate. A lot of clavicle breaks with them too, in simple get offs.

I really have to get my kids set up first though, right now we all run the neck rings.

On Sunday a very nice guy (only met him once but have many mutual friends) had a bad get-off at a enduro her in Northern California. His blog paints a poor picture and he sounds to have a very bad head injury.

His name is Troy Collins (look at the previous posters name-odd).

I work on a air ambulance and unfortunately pick up offroaders fairly often.

Wear as much protective gear as you can tolerate.

Wishing all the injured riders a speedy and full recovery

Stay safe,

J

YIKES

The EVS is the one I wear....three yrs now...I forget its on...swapped out and went head first in a gate last year...the guys following were freaked out...I broke a few ribs and cracked my sterum....bruised a lung

I have tried to ride without it and it feels plain wierd...thinking of the alpine stars bionic for a new one.....but its good to try them on cause like you say they dont fit all the same way

I wish you a quick and full recovery. I got bumped and fell over at the end of march at the Lake Havasu WORCS race. A pumpkin ran me over and broke my femur dislocated my hip broke my back broke all my ribs on the right side and had a collapsed lung. I was back on the bike beginning of september. So don't sell the bikes to quick. Good luck my prayers are with you.

Wow, sorry to hear that Troy passed away... It makes my injuries seem minor compared to what he went through, and a reminder to me that things could have been a lot worse.

I'm hanging in there, lots of Tylenol.

I haven't and can't touch the bike yet.

Have you tried the Omega neck brace?

The Omega is less restrictive than the EVS, more comfortable and better built.

The Omaga does not have the clavicle pressure points like the Leatt and doesn't jam up against my throat like the Leatt.

Wear good gear and ride smart - that means with someone who can get help if you get hurt.

Thats what I run now as well. Kids too. The EVS can be had from Rocky Mtn for $89.95 now. Paul, do you think its too hot in summer? Your not the first one I heard of running it without the roll. Eric, how does the Omega fit with various check protectors? Thats the only one I haven't tried on yet.

I've been wearing one of these http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/2/6/10/9961/ITEM/EVS-RC3-Race-Collar.aspx?WT.ac=SLIsearch

Who knows how much it may help but it has kept a few vines from wrapping around my neck and some green briars from getting at me.

i run this one also. in the past i've broken both collarbones from street racing. i think this just stops collarbone breaks (both of my collarbone breaks were from helmet impacting collarbone - not from shoulder impacting street...). the rc3 does a good job of stopping helmet hitting collarbone. most likely does nothing for your neck though....

I figure it's got to at least slow down an impact and also prevent whiplash. The ridged braces look like they transfer the impact to the larger part of the body, I guess that is better but probably depends on the crash and no two crashes are alike so who's to say.

I don't wear a chest protector. So far, I have never had an injury that made me wish I was wearing a chest protector - knock on wood.

The primary reason I don't wear one is that I overheat with one on and then my coordination tanks resulting in crashes. To give you an idea of how warm I am, I ride in 20 -30 deg F weather with Moose sahara pants, a sweatshirt and no coat.

FWIW, the Omega fits fine with the pack I use.

My 9 year old son wears one of these. His neck is still too short for the Omega.

i'm the same way, but i wear a chest protector (external - evs flux) to stop wind. no sweatshirt, just lightweight summer gear. i'll sweat the entire time... cold for about 3 minutes till i warm up..

No chest protector? NOT an option for me riding on unmaintained trails and racing in tight woods, not to mention the simple falls in rocks. The scared plastic tells the story. I have no problems with normal gear, Moose Sahara gear in summer.

That is why I don't wear a chest protector - even the most vented ones dramatically block the cooling airflow over my torso. Then I overheat.

I ride the woods on some trails so overgown you can't see the trail at times. I enjoy riding rock gardens that most riders hate. I also have an affinity for steep, gnarly hlls. I have crashed many times. However, not once was I wishing for the protection over the cooling.
