Difference between 2014 300 EC and XC

Yes, the 2014 has an improved starter, subframe, seat, and rear brake pedal; different foot peg mounts, I believe a reiger shock, and some other by bits and bobs.

No difference between the XC and EC for 2014.

I allways thought xc was motocross or cross country and ec was enduro and they had different gearing or tuning.

not sure which country your in...but US is only the EC.
