drive plate replacement, sharp edge in or out?

hey i got new drive plates (though i think the guy at the shop gave me aluminum plates, even though i specifically said steel, i guess sometimes people dont hear) but now that i have dug into it, i cannot feel the difference on the old plates, and i have seen referances to this before, but i cant find it. so, sharp edge inside or out?

i have also seen reference to it. i can't remember if there is a difference. i put all of them facing the same. glad you finally got in there. did outer basket look good or hammered?

a little grooved, so thats part of the problem. but i dont have the money to replace it and ive heard of too many broken plates to want to file them. oh well it works better now.

oh, and i ended up putting them sharp edge out, i think thats what the old ones were. it was hard to tell. after i deal with my carb slide, the next major investment may be a whole new clutch pack. new plates, springs, and outer basket.

might be worth comparing the rekluse exp setup when replacing th eclutch i believe that comes with a complete basket etc might work out cheaper with benefits

i dont know if id want a rekluse or not. it sure would make gofasters happy i suppose, they did alot of work to get rekluse to make an exp that would work in a gasser, and now they have sold very few if any. thats gotta be all kinds of frustrating.

I has a z-start on my kx and really enjoyed it (mostly due to my state of unfitness!) but agree that it is not really needed on my new ec300.

however the exp appears to be more of an anti-stall device with an on-off clutch engagement as opposed to the bvarying degree of slip on the z-start. And this is what i miss from my rekluse, those times when i am in the wrong gear and get a bit stuck and stall, loosing time in races.

What i was suggesting is that it might work out cheaper than stock with added benefits

yup i understood. i just dont know if i'll go that way or not. we'll see, these plates will work for now anyhow. and really alls i will need to replace will be the basket, the hub inside is fine. dunno, ill see what prices are later.
