I had to think about this one for a awhile before writing. I agree that Ducati would not be my 1st choice nor would it be the last thing I would want to see. I'm not sure who would buy Gas Gas ( if anyone) due to internal conflicts. When the Cagiva company brought Ducati and Husky together in the late 80's things did not go so well. This is not an "apples to apples" comparison, but I don't think Ducati is all that concerned w/ trials and enduro bikes in their showrooms. One possibility, and this is waaaaaaayy out there is a Japanese company buying into Gas Gas. Honda has done this w/ Montesa.
It would be a Spanish/ Euro manufacturing facility and it would then allow the
japanese parent company to continue focusing on 4 strokes while maintaining a 2 stroke off road line, thus plugging any holes or cracks in the market that KTM now controls. All of this is wild speculation. The Kawasaki-
Suzuki cooperative effort didn't fare so well, Honda already has ties w/ Montesa and Yamaha seems as though they will continue w/ 2 strokes for a while. Like other scenarios there are as many negatives as positives, I have nothing against any of the manufacturers, I just don't want to see Gas Gas
get bought out, and then disappear.
