E85 fuel

we use this fuel in our turbocharged race cars with great results and 95c a ltr compared to $1.45 ltr for 98 fuel

The fuel requirements of my dirt bike are much closer to a farm tractor than a turbo charged race car.
Here in the U.S.A. E10 (90% gas, 10% ethanol) is 85-95c a ltr while 100% gas sells for roughly 10% more. Our federal government mandates a very high level of ethanol that the fuel wholesalers have to sell and our government also subsidizes the makers of ethanol billions of dollars each year. Ethanol is actually more expensive to make and if you add in the diesel fuel burned to produce and transport the corn it also pollutes more. So how did we get in this ethanol mess? Politics - follow the money. Politicians vote to give out billions in subsidies most going to million dollar companies like Archer Daniels Midland (ADM). These companies in turn line the pockets of those politicians with campaign donations. Our primary elections for president start in the state of Iowa where a large portion of the corn for ethanol is grown so getting rid of ethanol won't happen unless there is a country wide outcry to do so. The production of ethanol takes good farm land out of agricultural use making farm land harder to find and more expensive to buy. This in turn makes all food more expensive and when the cost of food goes up - everything goes up in cost.

BINGO! Any voters out there listening!

10% is mandated but you can get fuel with upwards of 18% in Michigan. I've read reports of 22% in Colorado. Ever wonder why fuel prices differ from station to station? I had a BMW K1300S that developed ethanol sensitivity. Actually it wasn't just mine, as a bunch of 09s had stalling issues from it. The Germans didn't factor that their machines might be subjected to higher than 10% ethanol in the US. There is a refinery close to us and we get regular updates about how they blend higher ethanol as it's cheaper(less gas). They in turn sell it at whatever station that wants it and they can pocket the savings or offer it 10 cents cheaper than the Shell next door. Don't take my word for it, get an ethanol test kit and test your local station. Also check out Top Tier Fuel.com. It details what stations adhere to the fuel standards and explains why Shell/BP is a little more.

As far as my small engines they only get rec. fuel or VP C9/C9 premix. No ethanol, ever. Greatest scam perpetuated on the American public.

Nobody around here sells ethanol free and I can't afford race fuel. So I use pump fuel and add ethanol treatment.

Another option is if there's no 100% fuel available in your area try 100LL AV gas from the airport. It has a very long shelf life.
