hi wonder if anyone can help me ec200 playing up

whats happing is the bike will run fine when cold anywhere from 15mins to a hour when hot then it will start not wanting to rev neer top end of revs and will then start to lose more revs till it will only give 1/4 throttle but idle fine. I think it is an elec issue can anyone give pointers or common thing to look at

here a list of stuff i done trying to find the issue

1/new spark plug
2/ freash fuel
3/clean air filter
4/new fuel filter
5/cleaned carb
6/look at wiring for a earthing issue
7/check stator
8/ top end rebuild
9/ looked at reeds
10/new spark plug cap and cable

i am thinking it could be the coil or the reg but not sure?

thanks gav

what size of jets and needle are you running at what temp and alt?
what has changed since last time it ran good?
did outside temp get colder?

ciao, Hannes.

no idea what jet in it but were pritty flat round here and its been runing in the snow and in the summer heat with the same jet and never done it befor it

just taken all the lights off and the bar switch and still the same issue i gone point to point on every wire with the tester and no joy

When you say it will lose revs is it breaking up like when the choke is on? or bogging out like its running out of fuel?

Check breather lines (fuel tank vent line and carb vent lines). What does the spark plug look like when this happens? Is the bike up to temp or is the problem happening as the bike reaches temp? Feel the rads to get an idea!

Any chance of finding someone with a spare coil you can try?

it feels like it wants to rev but then surgus then it will rev then just gets worse till only give 1/4 power it happens when the bike is warm but at random lenghts of time like to day after 10mins of runing on then 10mins of riding but last sunday happen after 1 hour ride.

Have you checked the wiring for any loose connections?
I had a problem similar to what was described, and it was a loose join on the coil. I squashed the female spade connector and it fixed the problem.

good thinking but did that 1st time it happend as i had that happen on my old rs.

dose the reg have anything do with the coil or dose the reg power just the lights as the lighting system works fine and dont flicker on tickover. as im thinking just buy a coil and see if that works a ?20 isnt too harsh

When it happens unscrew your fuel cap and see if its still the same , iv had a few problems in the past that ended up being the fuel cap blocked , or try swapping you coil with andy too see if his bike behaves the same .

manage to get somtime to work on it at the weekend i took all the lights off inc the brake switch went for a hour off road ride no fault so it looks to be in the elec for the brakes. so i will re wire them and take it from there as it turn out the brake light had 3 lots co connectors to make the length so made that one now

Sounds like everyone on hear suggested everything you had tried, though you didn't get round to try my coil pack, hope that it was your dodgy wiring hehe!

wish it had been my wiring as 1st thing i looked was that switch is here so just going to plug it all in and re wire the brake lights with better connectors and hopfully she be mint
