EC200 Muffler

I have a Euro model 04 EC200. It has a short muffler fitted with a black end cap. I notice many 200's have a longer muffler like the 300. What gives? Also what difference does it make?

Thanks,

I have what some people call the 'Hockey Stick' muffler on my '03 200, but it has been cut down by the last bloke who owned it. He says it gives it a little more low end, if you don't overcut it. It has a black end cap too. The way you might be able to tell is to look towards the end of the muffler. On an uncut one, it says GasGas as a bit of a logo, if it hasn't been cut too far, there should be part of the GasGas left there, mine has about half of the last 'S' left

I think that's what has been done on mine. On inspection the end of the can before the cap doesn't look like a factory machine cut.

I assume the longer silencer is really a quiet issue more than anything. Maybe it helps in the torque dept. also?

my 2005 200 has the FMF turbine core,it blew a 94DB at the sound test for the snow run last weekend
