Hi all, I am new to Gas Gas and just become the proud owner of a 2006 EC200 to replace my KTM450exc, My may interest is enduro racing which in my area is tight woodland technical tracks. The bike is stock other than a suspension rework (luckily the last own is about the same weight and height) all would appear to be good and serviceable. Any tips on things to look out for and mods would be appreciated.
Based in the UK, so any advise on where to shop would be great.

hi,im also in uk and the best peolpe ive delt with is Thor racing in wales.good stock and superfast post.also do some wicked graphics,as seen on mine.01208831774,or becky 07787227841,they have been the best to deal with so far,i dont use anyone else now.

Welcome and congrats on your GasGas. Have you had a chance to ride the 200 yet and if so what did you think of it?

Thanks for the Contact in Wales.
First ride will be in the Track n Trail enduro at Materley Winchester in 2 weeks. Hope to get a few hours under my belt this weekend on Salisbury Plain which is just up the road from me, will post some feed back.

Other recommended Gas Gas vendors are Steve Plain (manages the Gas Gas UK enduro team) and Dave at Biketech Both have a long association with the brand, carry plenty of parts stock, know the bikes inside out and do prompt mail order.

I have an '06 EC 300. It's reliable and good to ride, although I would like to try a 200 on an enduro circuit myself. I reckon you'll probably find the EC200 better to race than that big heavy KTM :D

First race and ride on the EC200 at Matterley Basin, nr Winchester UK.
A very well run Enduro by Track N Trail.
What an amazing bike, the handling is tight and precise, in the woods section its like a trials bike, total revelation compared to my KTM. On the short straights it stayed with the big boys fine, no shortage of power.
And the way it hooks up and drives on loose and mud is superb.
The only thing I will change is the bar position and fit some risers, the riding position isn't quite right for me (6"2). I also need to adjust my riding style although it all started coming together after 2 laps. Also need to set up the suspension to suit, the front end did wash out on a couple of the fast corners, although I wasn't getting over the tank as much as I should (more a rider problem than the bike)
Basically I love the bike and can't wait for the next event. As TBM put it "the bike you should be racing":):):)

I also use Thor, they are in Cornwall, near Bodmin. I've not yet asked them to supply something they don't have in stock. Same day dispatch too.

James, might see you on the plain, I'm out most weekends, have just replaced my ec200 with a 300, your right the 200 is a great bike mine just floats over the ground, I've yet to get the 300 set up as well.
I should really sell the 200, but might hang onto it for a couple of months in case I don't bond with the 300.

well, i just bought myself an ec200 (2001) after riding an ec 300 (2000) and i'm really pleased:)
the 300 was always a little to much for me and now i just got a good deal on an ec 200 in pretty good shape.
i feel so much more at ease since nom I'm riding the bike and not vice versa
it takes some adjustment with less torque available but i'll get along just fine.
i have yet to test it on steap hillclimbs but i guess it'll do just fine.
it allso makes me feel more comfortable since the bike is somewhat smaller.
i'm 5'8 and weigh 160'ish nekkid.
suspension needst to be set since on my first ride-out, i think i bottomed out front and back in some small whoops.
previous owner had checked the forks and probably changed oil and didn't set clickers.
still need to look for factory settings but if i can't find'em i'll start all clickers in middle position and work my way from there.

in 1 month from now there's a big enduro ride-out with a few hundred riders, going for some 160 km ride, that'll be some test for the 200 :D

cheers guys,
Hannes.
